minnow traps?

has anyone built theier own trap? ive been looking around and the only thing i can find is the pop bottle type which doesnt seem to work that good...

Its pretty simple.

Buy yourself some hardware cloth at the local hardware store, lumberyard, etc. Pick up a roll of wire and a tin snips while you're at it.

Make a tube out of hardware cloth (as large as you need), and "sew" the tube together with the wire. Make sure you overlap at least 4 or 5 rows when making the tube.

Make yourself a cone for each end. One of the cones should have an extra flap on it (that's going to be your door to add bait and pour the minnows out of). Wire those cones onto the ends, leaving the extra flap unwired.

I like to add a handle of coat hanger wire, which is attached to the overlapping rows on the tube.

If you don't like the looks of your sewing efforts, you can always solder the seams.
