it seems like every i go now. the squirrel seems to get smarter and smarter or there isn't any left? does anyone know where i can find some? amish land ? someones land? any help? i just got a .17 recently and cant wait to shoot in it sept. thanks and advance

I'm sure if you took a drive around your area and found some woodlots with oaks, walnuts, and other mast trees you will find squirrels. Ask the homeowners if they mind you hunting squirrel. I can't imagine anyone will tell you no, except there are always a few.

squirrel season ended on February 28, 2009. It is illegal to shoot them until the season opens again on September 19, 2009.

Oh man!! My friends and I hunt tree rats like crazy down here every season! its so much fun! My place is surrounded by hundreds of acres of woods, and finding a plentiful spot is basically right at my finger tips:) ha ha do i sound hick or what??

Yes I know the season ended. If you would look at Phooj post you would see that he is looking for a spot come September.

Another word for a SQUIRREL.

Last year made it out twice. Rat hunting is the start of an addiction to hunting!

A couple years ago, while out phaesant hunting we shot a large Red squirrel that was about the size of a house cat. I had a buddy call his taxidermist to see how much it would cost to mount it, and he replied:

"I don't mount squirrels!"

.....I was kind of dissapointed.

If you find the right farmer with a corn crib..he probably will let you clean the squirrels out of there. They can raise havic on corn cribs.

I have squirles in my yard that are the size of a small cat. They are huge. A few of them have pushed their luck when I'm shooting bow in the back yard and they are only a few feet away. It would be cool to have a big one mounted up I think it would be cool to see in a house!

Yeah those little guys cost a pretty penny to get mounted!!! i had a guy from Mankato stuff 2 black squirles i shot and it cost me just over $500!... but they sure look awesome up in my room smile

yea....i'm not too familar with the variety of squirrel types/families.

All I know is that they don't even crack my top 10, probably 20 animals to get mounted, although that one was HUGE.

maybe if I saw an albino one, that would be pretty sweet.

Yeah i can see how they would. But when you get brought up hunting them all your life and get a few black ones or a unique one like that, its an accomplishment! haha and dont get me wrong i hunt everything there is to hunt around here as well! not just tree rats.

I love squirrel hunting. I got some great woods around me that are full of mature oaks and consequently, lots of squirrels. I also hunt state land up north that holds lots of squirrels. This last season I got my limit 3 or 4 times. Lots of good chewing there!

      Do have Wi-Fi in your house. Your going to need that to work with any of the cameras that send a signal and video to your phone.  Hardwire is the best but battery power workers well for about two months then you have to pull them and recharge them.  It is nice to sit on a beach in Key West and keep an eye on your house when gone! 👌

      With all the craziness in the world I’m looking at getting an outdoor security camera setup for my home. Anyone have ideas on what works well without a huge cost  and easy to do . Or is it better to go with a company to set it up.  We have recently had copper thefts in the area at farmers fields and bin sites and I know it will only gat worse as these things always do. I probably want something that hooks up to my phone as well and wondering if there is a good one with either battery life or if wired is better. Any thoughts are welcome.

      You launch on Moose Lake to get to the motorized portage. It's called Prairie portage. To get to the portage you put in at Moose Lake. From Moose you go into Newfound Lake. From Newfound you go into Sucker Lake. On Sucker is where Prairie portage is. There is a dock on the American side and on the Canadian side there is big sign welcoming you to Canada. Latourell's Resort runs the portage and the cost for the portage is $40 for a round trip.

      Nope, there are parts of Basswood that allow motors.   Entry is from Fall Lake, and there is (I think) a motorized portage.   It is really popular in the spring...
