boiler, very nicely done! The rope lights are a great idea! cool Did you double check all these old rivets before you buttoned it all back up? So what are you going to do with that little Crestliner hiding on the side of the garage?

evin19, Where and what kind of paint did you buy for it? On an old boat with a lot of old layers of paint, you have got to strip her down to bare metal, and then go from there. Good marine primer and then marine top layer! Put a stripe on the top, and she'll look great! I know it can cut in to the old minnow money a bit!

Dbl what size is your prov it looks like a newer verson of mine and mine is a 1775.

1999 1775 Pro V.

evin19, take your time, and do a good job. It shouldn't peel in one year if you get it right! Sorry for sounding like your Dad! frown Good luck with the project! smile

Both very cool boats Burnham, I'm in the market for a setup like your rowboat.

Rowboat?! just kiddin wink...thank you, yea i really like the set up, only have 2 5.5 horse motors though and i want to upgrade to a 10 hp sometime this year...

Burnham, I too have been lookin on CL lately but I'm trying to find just a boat and trailer mostly. I already have a super reliable 6hp Johnny to throw on it. I shouldnt have any trouble finding one before the fishing starts to heat up though. Its hard to find a setup with a really nice trailer like you have.

Posted

yea i know what ya mean. and those johnnys are reliable arent they! both of mine are right around 50 years old and work fine. yea i got the trailer from northern tool and equipment a couple years ago for $350. it cost a penny but was worth it

Posted

I think thats the route I might go with the trailer. The 6hp I have is a 1972 model and runs like the day it was made, my dad bought it brand new back then. Thanks for your input.

No problem grin, thats what the sites for!

Far from new, but still does the job.

Nice I dig the boat. I want to find an older 80's Lund like my dads old boat from our cabin when I was a little kid.

Fishing Novice. I noticed your "mooring" system. I'm curious, is that something you made or purchased. I've been tossing around the idea of "mooring whips" / used boat lift. That system you have there seems like it would work for me. Anyone else seen / used a system like that?? (1st page, 7th post, NICE red Lund /150 Merc). Thanks in advance.

I love the rope lights. I'm glad I thought of it. wink I normally leave them off, but when I need to tie a knot, see what I'm doing, light up so another boat can see me, they really do the trick.

Checked and replaced a couple of rivets.

The Crestliner hiding beside my man fort has gone down the road. Parting was sweet sorrow, but I was gathering a small fleet of boats and one of them had to go.

I'm not sure, that was at a friends cabin. It works great, I was really surprised how well it would keep the boat away from the dock. The large spring in the front and the one in the back really absorb the waves well. I'm not sure if they made it or purchased it but I think it would be easy to make yourself. I think it's a good setup if you only keep your boat in the water a few days at a time.

Thanks,

Thanks Tyler, Great boat to fish out of plus a great family boat. My kids have a blast getting pulled around the lake and my wife likes to sloooooooowly drive around to look at things.

Made a quick trip before the weekend rush on Vermilion.  Ice was in very good condition.  Didn't see any slush or water on any of the roads out from McKinley Park.  There are plowed roads on both side of the staked snowmobile trail coming out from the landing.  The road to the left goes out toward Birch Island, and there is a spur road going to the left (west) a couple hundred yards out.  The road on the right side goes out toward Ely Island.  There is a short spur road going east about half mile out.   The water came up under my fish house about another 1½ inches when I drilled my holes.  Looks like I will be going back up early next week to block my house up higher.  The small amount of new snow is really drifting up and adding weight.  You may get water on the ice, or find slush if you drill holes in new areas.  There is about 15% bare ice where the wind has blown it off.  Many of the drifts are very high and hard, so you could get stuck on them.   Fishing was average.  Best bites were from 9-10am and 11-1230 when I quit.  Biggest walleyes was only 16¼", then the next biggest was 13.75".  Reporting lengths in quarter inches because I can't seem to find any big walleyes.   Good luck fishing, be careful driving around, and be courteous to others.
