What To Do

broken line

Question

I got a new GPS/sonar for the boat and when starting to install - I see the plug from the transducer is too big to go through the drain hole in the rear of the boat where they usually run through. Any ideas?

I had the very same problem when I installed a sonar on my boat a few years ago.

I ran the cable up and over the transom, then tucked it in the boot that surrounds the steering cable. Not the way I wanted to run it but I didn't see much of an option.

I've had this happen too. If the plug is just a little too large I've taken a dremel tool and ground down a little of the extra plastic on the plug until it fits through the hole.

I did this as well,

Just taking the crowns off the hex/knurled knobs portion of the plug.

Still a snug fit though.
