Next year, got a question

Recommended Posts

I've always fished out of Wheelers point (5 years)from late Feb to the middle of March, headed out over pine island anywhere from 16-35 feet. Trying to time it right to catch them stacked up in the gap. Some years it works and some it dosen't. Now thinking it might be time for a change.

Thinking of moving to Morris or Zipple and have a question. Is there any time of year in that area that's better than the others or is it all the same as where I usually fish.

I've stayed at several of the resorts in the Wheelers Pt. area and they have all been great, just looking to change things up.

Thanks.

Your in the right place. In Febuary its better to go across the lake to the reefs if your resort has houses. But right about now is a good time to hang out around the gaps in 20ft or so.Im going up next WED. and hope to fish in the 20 to 18 ft. all day. Also if you can get in on early ice (DEC. 8 to 20th) fishing is a blast around the South Shore, at Pine Island.

There wasn't much goin around the gap in 17-22 last weekend, but we smoked them out by Knight island. This weekend could be a different story though, they should be in shallow soon.

Yea, I was there last weekend and two weeks before that. Pretty slow over the weekend. Last year however was a completely different story! Oh well, thats what you get by booking early.
