For anyone (over 21 of course) who can help me wire my trailer. it's an aluma, 6.5 x 12. I can do the wiring, but it's the fishing it through the frame and connecting the marker lights that I can't do. Any takers??? Glencoe area. but will travel with it if I need to in order to get it done right!!

if you are just fishing it down the tube get a spool of wire stiffer the wire the better and tie the electrical lines to the end of the wire then feed the wire through the tube from front to back or back to front

Sounds good Ryan. I have the futon in the garage. Yes I am an auto mechanic, I have wired many things. Let me know, we will figure it out. Email me with a time in mind. Preferably when it isnt raining. Shouldnt take more then an hour.

Ryan, is it enclosed or open style of trailer? Is the old wiring still in tact or is it already gone. The answers to these questions will determine the needed steps to get ya legal!!

yeah the old wires are still there, I'll leave them there for sure. cuz the lights work "good enough" for travel for now, but just want to start from scratch and get it done right. I take it you have a fish tape? it won't be for at least a week or so. I'll shoot you and e-mail here in a day or so!!!

Since the old wires are still there, just tape the new wires to the old, then pull the old out until the new wires come through. Atleast thats what I would do.

Contact the Dakota County Technical College. They are actively looking for trailers that need rewireing as one of their classes.

I believe it's free, or at least parts only. Probably won't have any luck with the beer swap though.

too bad I didn't hear about that dctc thing earlier!! I got the trailer wired, now I'm in need of someone who can weld aluminum to tack on the pieces I had to take off to do the re-wire!!

Glad you got it rewired, but you cut aluminum? Owie.

My Sled Bed trailer had wiring issues. Mice got into the frame and ate the wires up, then some wires shorted out on the aluminum. What a pain in the arse.. I could access all the wiring by removing the recessed lights around the perimeter of the frame.

I couldn't do it that way. there are "access panels" just tacked on to the frame, at the end of some tubing. they are only tacked on for just that reason, easy removal to access the wiring. It's an easy enough job to tack them back on, just need the right equipment. I didn't "cut" the trailer, just took out the pieces that were designed to come out for wiring!!!
