Recommended Posts

Anybody been fishing the lakes around here lately? Im looking to make a trip up to the cabin for the last time this winter, and hopefully catching some crappies. Im wondering what equipment I should bring, any snow and ice reports would be great, thanks!

With the heat wave this week be sure to bring your scuba gear. I am NE of Grand Rapids and my lake is pure water on top of the ice. Snow is melting fast, 54 degrees today.

Was out on Bowstring today alot of water on top with slushy snow drifts you can drive anywhere. I used a 4 wheeler but there was pickups driving most of the lake, seen a dozen and half trucks. I came out of the ne access still driving trucks out.It should hold for awhile temps are suppose to be in the mid 30,s to 40 starting wednsday. It was close to 60 today.

The lake I was on yesterday, over in the Scenic Hwy area was completely refroze. Definitely bring the ice cleats or at the very least some sort of a helmet so you don't wipe out and smack yer head! laugh I've learned the hardway 2 different times. Fishing was good, lots of little crappies, but me and a buddy kept our 20 all in the 9 to 11" range.

Snowing steady here today, some huge flakes at times! Probably an inch or so on the ground as we speak.
