Anyone been out on Island (Res) lately?

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about heading up to my parents this weekend and was wondering if anyone has had any successful outings or could update me on the snow conditions on the lake.

Also, how deep/where would you look to catch a walleye or two? I probably won't be getting out again this year, so I want to make my time worthwhile.

So far I have found channels and "pinches" with a harder bottom to be most productive for ice fishing, but that seems to usually work best with early ice. It seems like the later in year its hard to find more than one random fish out there.

Any help would be greatly apprieciated. I don't really care as much about the help fishing as I do about the snow conditions.

Lots of snowmobiles running all over and a wheeler can get most places. We drove out off of the United Northern Sportsmans landing with trucks for the contest and only rookies were getting stuck. wink

I wouldnt drive a truck out on the main lake though. I think it was about 16-18" of ice if I remember correctly.
