St Cloud Fishing Reports

Recommended Posts

Oh nice work Don, sounds like I need to be looking shallower. I was thinking with the cold temps and the high barometric pressure they moved deeper.

A friend of mine is going to pull my wheel house out on Julia today with his ATV. Ill give you all a report after he gets set up and gets back to me. Love it when other people get to do the work!!

Went past Julia on Sunday, it looked like there must have been a Black Friday sale on the lake judging by the vehicles on the landing. I wasn't able to see if there were any wheel houses out yet though.

I was out on Pearl lake and found 13" of ice yesterday, 12" was out there 3 days ago. Didn't notice how much was white ice but I would think it was about 2". All I got yesterday was back home. Fish were there but very sluggish.

Was out on grand all day Sunday spearing there's a solid 12" had a nice one shoot in and pound my decoy and bolt right away! Never had time for a shot but pretty cool to see! Also had a monster pass through just before I was gonna pack up on Sunday night he didn't pay any attention to my decoy and just slowly cruzed passed the top left of my hole I could only see the right side of him I about cried I never had a shot at him would have been on the wall for sure!!! Also I got off work last night and had to chisel out my hole I ended up driving my car right out to my house no problem.

Had a choice to make today, weather to fish today or tomorrow, I picked today grin Big Birch was the lake of choice. Got a late start at it so really didn't set up right where I wanted. We ended up drilling holes from 15-25 ft close to a nice green weed wall. Would like to say we set the word on fire, but can't. Things were pretty tough out there. I talked to a few others as they were leaving the lake, one person had two fish and another gentleman had one. Still, we fished on into the evening. After the last soul left the lake, something happened, we got a few fish to come through our area smile didn't get a whole lot, but ended up with enough for a nice meal of fish and a nice fat one to boot wink. full-26589-40259-004.jpg

Sorry about the blurry pictures, my camera kept fogging up.

Birch has some very funny ice right now. One hole I checked with the tape had 10in of ice another hole had 12in and other holes had 6-8in of ice. The thinner ice was found under spots where there was a little deeper snow. I would use great caution on this lake still.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and moved to St. Cloud in July from Bemidji, Mn. I was out on Grand yesterday, ice was 14" and caught couple northerns. I love ice fishing for walleyes and hope to find them soon. Looking forward to share fishing reports with you guys. Great pics everyone...never fished cats through the ice but you guys sure make it sound fun. Going have to try it someday.

Thanks guys... Pallansch- Fishing walleyes around the Bemidji area is phenomenal. Im going miss the action everyday. The girlfriend and I moved down here for work and school. New to the area and going start my search for new walleye spots. If anyone is ever headed up to the Bemidji area, I got great advice and can put you on the fish. Can anyone tell me what are the closet lakes to STC with best chance of wally action? Thanks

Bryan, there are a few decent lakes in the area, just not quite like your used to wink

Rice, Koronis, Cedar Island, Horseshoe, Little Rock, Big Spunk , Big Birch, Two Rivers and the Briggs chain are some of the better walleye lakes in the area.
