Took the kids out and some new anglers on Gull and really got into the bass and blue gills. I burned through 7 dozen small leeches and the kids had a blast. Thanks for the tip, it helped a ton. The first place we fished was all we needed all weekend for some great action. My 3 year old son caught at least a dozen fish all by himself, including a 3 lbs large mouth. Tons of fun.

A few walleyes and pike biting up on the whitefish chain. Lindy rigs and redtails or jigs and fathead minnows seem to be the ticket. Weedlines out to 25 feet or so. Lots of bass when you get closer to the weeds.

Went out with my 5 year old tonight, caught 2 good northerns 2 walleyes and a bunch of rockbass pulling sr5 perch colored raps and some spinners I tied up. Green blades worked better on the spinners with some leeches. We have had decent luck in 8-12fow all summer. It was a blast

I'm not a salesman for Rapala but those SR-5 deep runners are working awesome right now! My buddy got a 25" walleye & I got a 20" & a 18" on them last night. Both of us were using the same perch color slow trolling. I got my 2 right before dark & my buddy got his right after it got dark. We also hooked some nice northerns with them & my wife got a 14" crappie the night before on one.

Yeah, nice toothy! smile

I was doing real well (numbers of pike) on Sunday on a tiny lake, but nothing like that! Did get a 30" on a near-musky-sized perch rapala, trolling.

Nice one traxx!

Was out last night & caught a mixed bag of 3 walleyes, 2 northerns, a huge 13" perch (my wife caught), a couple of bass, a sunny & bullhead. We were trolling raps for awhile & then switched to slip bobber & had success on both.

I fished Gull all weekend w/ not much luck. Hot one day cold the next didn't help much. I do agree w/ the rapala choice you stat as that is the only thing we got our 3 walleyes on all weekend. I tried everything and a lot of places. We got lots of 24" Pike and Bass were pretty active. Water is still over 70 degrees. I would think the bite should pick up in a couple weeks for the Walleyes.

Planning on heading out this saturday evening. how's the bite been? Haven't been out to gull since early june. Suppose they haven't hit fall patterns yet.

On gull last night. water still at 72 deg surface temp.

Lots of cigars, but a couple keepers and a nice pike too.

Was a great day and beautiful sunset to be out though.

Waiting for cooler temps!

The north end of the lake has been awesome this week. Lots of wind, but the fish are snapping. I fished the south end this morning with limited success. But the north end has produced all week, about 1/2 and 1/2 keepers to throwbacks, along with some nice bass and pike mixed in. We've found all of our fish in 14-19 feet along the weedlines. I've been lindy rigging redtail chubs on a 3-4 foot leader, a soft glow bead, and a green, chart, or blue #2 hook. But I've talked to a few guys around the shop that are catching fish on jigs and fatheads or leeches too.

Had a good bite on Gull this weekend. Saturday evening was great for trolling in the shallows. We caught our other fish right on the weed line in the morning. Water temp is still 62.

Talked to some friends that have been out scouting and fishing. Depending on the size of the lake the ice has varied from 2-7 inches. The fishing has been pretty good so far. Crappies on the small lakes are biting great just at sunset pretty wild for 45 minutes or so. The walleyes on the bigger lakes are going ok too as most anglers are just testing ice out to the first drop off near shore. This morning the bite wa pretty good. Cold temps today should make ice. Should be a great weekend. Take it slow and safe.

Fished two lakes today 25 miles apart, for walleyes, and all I can say is that it was very unproductive. My best guess is that this severe drop in temperature must have shut them down. Looks like it is going to warm up tomorrow for the rest of the week. Hopefully the bite picks up. Does anyone else have a report on the Brainerd area walleye bite?

Not many reports going on here? I have been out on a few smaller lakes targeting walleyes with mixed results. Fishing for me seems to almost be better during the daytime as opposed to "prime time". Been having the most action just off weed edges in about 16-18 feet. Anyone doing any good on some of the bigger lakes? I hear Pelican and Round have been producing fish. Have not heard much from Gull.

Caught some fish on gull this week/weekend but they were all the typical 10inch size that gull is full of...I'm done fishing that lake. Round did not produce for us this morning. My guess is that the night bite is better or it's about done for the year.
