just where in the hizell do you get leeches this time of year? arkansas?

I've actually tried saving them from the summer, and I succeeded. The problem: the water is so cold they ball up and won't "unball." My guess is the fella was full of baloney, but that's just me. smile

Hhhmmmnnn...... hooked you up with like 4 lbs of them....sure your not holding out on me grin

The last two trips were to 7 mile.

averaging 10 fish a day with 2 eaters each time, and some nicer tullibees

I dumped the minnow heads and went to full minnows on blade jigs with very little movement and that is what started the ball rolling for me.

Best water was 32 fow. set lines only produced a couple of fish each trip.

no pout yet which is surprising.

I'm pretty sure those didn't make it to the beginning of June. whistle

Went out of the west side of the lake Friday. Caught 9 fish (3 keepers) between 4PM Friday and 7AM Saturday. Had a several misses also. Most of them were caught on the rattle reels, but I did manage to catch two on a forage minnow with minnow head Friday evening. Didn't catch anything for 5 hours Saturday morning after the morning bite.

We were just off the flats in 34 feet of water. Biggest was 26"

Went out of hunters out to bog flat Thursday and Friday pulled a few out with shiners. Seen a few on camera talked one into my green slender. Then moved up by red door. Never fished that close to shore ever on mille lacs or that far away from structure but I saw plenty of perch one the size of monster perch everyone has seen the pic of floating around and at a consistent eye coming threw about every 15 min only talked two into biting before we left Sunday. all in all I learned generator needs to be in the back of truck and you need a 5 foot leader during the day bite but was a good weekend.

Had a pretty good weekend....best times were once again over night on the rattle reels. Shallower for us was better than deeper; the shallow house on Sat night/Sun morning picked up eight with a few misses. The deep house got three or four. Biggest of the weekend was a personal best for the little man, a skinny-ish 28 incher.

Can shiners still be found around the area? Prince bait maybe?

We are coming up friday morning and Ive heard that most places are running low or are out.

I have a stash of red, pink, and white #6's. What else should I pick up?

Besides the bud light and smoked polish.

Prince bait had shiners last Friday when I was there. They were fairly large and also had even bigger "Large" shiners.

Any luck on the bigger ones?

I have some medium/large ones left over that I am trying to keep alive for the weekend. I couldnt see dumping shiners that ran me almost a $1 each.

Posted

I know Myr Mar has them, and Lundeen's and Prince also had them last weekend.

We had our best luck on the BIG ones. We usually put down a fathead, a small shiner, a medium shiner, and a big one. The big one got four before anything else got a sniff...That's not necessarily typical, but it's what they wanted last weekend.

Garrison sports still has shiners if your heading out that way

We were up on the big pond last weekend caught 16 eyes, kept 5 , returned the rest n lost 3 at the hole! The largest was 26", I have to say the eyes on big pond have a lot more fight in em than on low! We had a great time outa hunters point in our own wheelhouse! No longer the Dead Sea for me, it is possible!

Did pretty good out of Macs Twin Bay this Monday-Wednesday. Caught all of out fish on dead sticks and rattle reels plain jane hooks with a rainbow or fat head. They were pretty dead all day but started taking bait at 300 pm and didnt quit biting till after 6 in the morning. We caught 26.5, three 24's, 22, 20, 19, 18, and a 16.5

Only one legal one but we still had a blast. Had a few lookers on a green spoon tipped with a minnow head and one taker that we missed. Hope this helps someone out on that big lake!

Oh ya had a ton of shiners! Not one single bite on the shiner!

Fished a south end reef Saturday and Saturday night.7 Walleyes biggest 27" smallest 18 1/2". 2 Northerns a 34" and a 36". Lost a 40"+ Northern and 3 good size Walleye. All big fish came on shiners. Plain red hook and pink jigs.

Fished west side mud this weekend, 16,20,23,23.5,25 and 27" for eyes and a mid 30's northern (didn't have ruler that went over 30") all on set lines but didn't seem to matter between shinners, rainbows or fatheads but they had to be 3"-4" in size and no more than 12" off bottom

Posted

Fished just south of 3mile. 3 walleyes in my shack. 15,22,26. Still no perch. Also went out to 9 mile for a while just to say i was there. One tulli. all the other fish seemed really lothargic. "sp". Anyone else finding the perch yet??

I managed 1 11" Perch on Seguchie Saturday night along with a few 'eyes @ 12", 22" & 27" and a bonus 'pout.

Set up on the heel of the flat in 32'. Green seemed to be the hot color in my shack. I threw everything at them but the green Gem-N-Eye, Stop Sign and #4 green octopus hook with shiners and fatheads caught all.

Another weird weekend for us. Friday night was lights out...set lines going down all night long (eventually we pulled them up so we could get some sleep). All fish too big. Saturday night...one fish at 5:30 p.m. and then nothing after that. Came home to watch the game on Sunday afternoon after not getting a bite for almost 20 hours. smile

Glad to hear it wasn't just my group. Three of us were out on the mud Saturday afternoon/overnight and got one 23.5" eye at 9:45PM and that was it for the whole trip. Tried rainbows, fatheads, shiners... nothing working. Came back Sunday AM after not getting anything all night on the rattle reels. This was almost the same spot we had luck on a week earlier.

Sounds like we should have been there Friday night instead. smile

I'm heading up on Thursday for the first time this year. If anyone has any suggestions on where I could find some perch, I would sure appreciate some direction. Thanks.

5 of us were in a house around Hennepin Island. 24 FOW. Not a bite Friday. A 26" saturday around 6am. 25.5" around 2:30 pm. One 19" Sunday around 4 am. Went out and drilled around 50 holes between 2 guys. Not a flash on the screen.

Woke up sunday morning with no heat and frozen holes. 3 rattle reels were missing minnows after we chipped the ice out.

Fish were caught on shiners with red hooks. One fish on a chartrouse hook. Heading out of the red door this weekend for the girlfriends first time on the lake. I really hope she catches something. Fingers crossed.

well at least it seems my trip was about average. Fished 8 mile sat night in about 29'. 1 22" jigging, missed one on the tip ups, a 16" about 730am sunday and a tully. Pretty slow..had a house full of 7 year old kids with lots of screaming and jumping around going on may have slowed things for us. The adults were not fishing to hard just trying to keep an eye on nothing going down the hole!!

All the kids asked when we are going again so it was a success I guess even with no fish!!

sounds like more of the same from everyone. A buddy and i were out from saurday noon till this morning at 10. two different spots on the edge of flats. Saturday was dead. 1 22" on the rattle wheel late at night. Marked a bunch of negative fish. Sunday dead all day long, not marking anything until around 5 pm. Got 4 more and a few misses that night. Nothing after 7 am monday. Trip total a 24", 23, 22, 21, 17 and a 13. Didnt keep either of the legals. All fish were caught between 5pm and 7am and all bites were in that time frame too. All on sucker medium sized sucker minnows. Fatheads got nothing. Daytime bite was nothing short of aweful.
