I spent my days off from school learning to build decoys,Carved, molded and cast my own heads. Then taking what was suppose to be cut up and tossed in a dumpster turned it into a treasure.

Got aways to go on the painting but thats the fun of learning..They rode sweet in the high winds, wont ever leak and what little time I gunned over em,managed to put 3 mounters in the freezer .

I built G eyes and Common mergies and full body black ducks .. Didnt get pics of them yet..

I started 3dz more ringer and G eye this week. Sure like how the river keels handle the big waves on long lines.. I will have about 75 by done by spring. The ones in the works, last winters and the 4dz herters 72's Im casting new heads for will give me about 150 unsinkable longliners....

Thinking of teal and mallards next year.

Great job Mutha! How'd the season go for ya? And where did you learn to carve the dekes? If you get a chance, it would be awesome to see a step by step with photos story. Or one on how you builtyour boat, not that I expect you to do another one of those!

No matter what that's a job well done. I want to give that a try some day.

Got most of my ideas off the hunting and decoy sites. Id list em but I don't think it would fly long...

After pricing carstens ect and knowing Im gonna alter it, made no sense to buy one.

The boat will handle a gas motor and has 2 deep cycles,a huge bilge pump, removable carpeted floor panels, interior lights a 12v heat pad/personal warmer from Cabelas. The wife made me a layout blind style cordura cover with stubble straps that I tie colored raffia to for grassing.Thats tensioned down with 2 bungies and is easy to slide off for running cripples.

My next project is a weed eater mud motor, again found the plans and watched a video of one working fine on the web.

Actually I will be building another, been given a 16'er of the same brand and a tri hull that might make a sweet 2 person layout for under $300 Ill take some pics as it goes..

Thanks for the kind words it sure is a rush seeing birds drop into your blocks....

Doctari longlines, I got the 6'heavy clips.Cheap by the 100 and used green weed eater line with 3/32 cable crimps..

The hoody is from the

"Jerry Garcia Dead Head Camo Collection'..

Actually we get a new one every year and have referred enough people to "Uneek" that they made us green and brown ones ...

What size motor was the boat rated for? I bet thing would really fly with it maxed with motor from before remodeling. eek Would be sure fun to try it out.

Wow, don't know how I missed this earlier, but great looking boat mutha, and those dekes are AWESOME! My brother and I made some burlap/foam decoys, and they turned out okay, but not nearly as nice as yours.

Im gonna try a 6 maybe a 9 horse on it this summer for kicks but the electric gets me around fine however it gives me a perfect reason to buy a bigger electric and if not I tend my spread with the fishing boat/45hp..

Finished 30 total ringers, buff's and G eyes.2 weeks ago and now have 2dz+ bills ready for paint.

Carved and made molds of new drake and hen common mergie wigeon, redhead, pintail and both green and bluewing teal..

Ill post up some pics once I get the next batch painted. I do have 3 1/2dz brand new herters 72's that might be for sale.

Nice Job man! All you need to do now is learn how to call ducks with your mouth and you will do everything yourself! Iv heard of southern duck hunters using their mouth to call ducks with great success. smile Thats some great craftmanship on the boat and the decoys, you could really start a buisness with that skill...

Thanks for the compliments. blush

I'll stick with using call's cant sing so I'm sure mouth calling wouldn't work..

Been asked to come up with a couple new class's at VCC, may do a Decoy 101 and a fly tying 101 class's.

Well here they are nothing fancy just rough diver gunners.. The rack and hole in the river keel make for ease of hanging...

IMG_0572.jpg

IMG_0574.jpg

Next have to make some common Merg and then black duck out of herters 72 divers,, Gonna have to build a tail and wingtip mold is what I have in mind for that conversion/...

Let me know what ya think of em..

Ive been taking a census the last 3 semesters and everyone asked said they would have taken it.Probably be in the spring next year.Funding is the main concern. Most of all sure don't want to overload my fall, gotta keep it open for hunting/research..

I started my common Merganser spread last night..Gotta have em nothing like dropping 5 more birds a day. Once I figured out how to drop the fish taste from them< secret recipe they became game on. They also are a very interesting bird to work into mounts.

Thanks for the compliments guys, mighty kind words...

They are a hoot and make some killer stuff on all sorts of grilling/smoking equipment.   I check out their youtube channel all the time.

I just can't do it.  😁   Mostly because I dont each chips anymore.  😋

gonna put this out there cuz it really is good. Lol. Cottage cheese. Ketchup. A little mayo. I have always hated cottage cheese straight but have been eating this since I was a kid. With wavy or regular potato chips. And I still love it!! Lol. I might have to try it sometime with a little bbq sauce. 🤪
    • Mike89
no but I want to!!  and I agree on the pork ribs too!!!    the BBQpit boys are funny and I sure enjoy watching their stuff..

I do a dry rub and coat it in yellow mustard to get the rub to really stick.  I haven't injected any of mine but a lot of guys do.  I picked up an injector a couple weeks ago but haven't used it yet.  Smoke moderate for about 2 hrs at 250-275 degrees,( a little longer if you like a dark bark like I do.)  I wrap mine in foil and put back on the grill to get to temp.  Sometimes I finish them in the oven.   Like Royce said shred with a couple forks when It's still warm/hot.  I keep a little of the rub to mix in once its shredded.   Its delicious!
    • Mike89
      good luck to ya!!

When I do a pork butt I just rub it all over and smoke  it at 230 3 hours or so with hickory.fat up. Then scrape the fat layer off.  Then it goes into the crock pot on high for about 5 hours. 1/4 cup water in the crock pot and I add a bit more rub on top  Get it up to 205-210. 8-9 hour project and really good. Grab a couple forks and pull it while it’s hot. Pics when you do it. 😁🐖🐖

I hunt out of blinds a lot I put out 4 in good locations travel feeding routes well before my season. . I rarely hunt the woods anymore. Have had a lot more success hunting big green pastures feeding fields and travel routes. But if all else fails I'm not afraid to get up personal with them in the woods or throw the Mojo scoot shoot at them to fill a tag. 👍

      Thanks Borch! 😃

Just threw a bunch of  Chicken legs on the Bradley. Rubbed with a Jack Daniels brown sugar dry rub. Smoked at 275 for around 3 hours with some apple wood  Looking forward to the end results. 👍  We always buy our ribs from a local meat marts Tessmer meats and Bragleman meats. Nice and fresh!  Royce I prefer St louis myself over the baby backs. Anyone have any tips for doing a pork butt? Going to give one a whirl sometime in the future here and it will be my first time doing one.
