Aquatronics-Boat CD player/Stereo-Model MC1000

Recommended Posts

I wondered before I buy a new boat stereo if anybody would have a clue to what is wrong with my 1 year old Auqatronic and how to repair? I used it Saturday night and was going across some 25 mph wind/chop on the lake and the boat was getting pretty wet. Now I hear these stereos are water sealed, but is it possible it got wet and fried the system? Maybe just letting it air out will correct the problem? The stereo was on and all of a sudden---nothing. Has anyone had the same problem or have the electronic knowledge to what happened?

I wanted to listen to the T-Wolves as I fish this eve. Any suggestions would be helpful!

Thanks.

Check the wiring connections, I would guess there is a fuseable link. Maybe you just blew the fuse

Sounds like a fuse got blown to me, too... if it had fried, you would've heard it...

I checked the fuses on the box last night and they all looked fine. Do you think there is a acual fuse inside the stereo itself? If so, wouldn't the stereo not work at all? I am able to dial staitions, treb/bass and adjust the volume on the face, but no sound and no light on the face plate. It has a detachable face on it. I really think it may of gotten wet from that rough ride. I have it in the house now under a fan in hopes it helps dry it out if that is the problem.

I appreciate your suggestion and will look over the stereo itself for a fuse tonight. I just called Audiovox (aquatronics) and left a message with them in hopes they call me back soon.

Augg, I hate when this **** happens!

Have a great evening! Any other suggestions?

I was just passing through and saw the name of the radio I have in my boat. I had the same thing happen last year at the lake on July 4th. We were water skiing, then after we were done, the radio stopped working. It appeared to be on but there was no sound. I thought that it had something to do with the speakers. I brought it to the dealership and they turned it on with no problems at all. It had sat unused for 2-3 days, and I wondered if maybe something got wet or there was a loose connection. It has worked just fine so far this year. I know that this isn't much help, but I thought that I'd let you know that I had the same thing happen.

Thanks Remmington,
I have a new one ordered at no charge to me, luckly it was still on warrenty. I tried it again last night and it still didn't work.

Audiovox (Aquatronics) is replacing it with a new model, The MC - 1000 has been discontinued for some reason???

If there's a reset button on it (normally on the front), I'd try that. My car stereo has a weird hait of locking up like that at times... everything looks like it's working, but no sound. Or sometimes no buttons work, so you're stuck with the station, CD or whatever at times.. It's happened three times to it, and it's some kind of computer glitch.. something gets stuck in whatever state it was in, and locks up the whole thing. YOu may want to look at that, too.
OR, some stereos have a fuse on the back of the stereo, or on the power wire...

On some of those with detachable faces, there is a little button that helps push the face off the unit. Check to make sure that is moving smoothly, and that it goes in all the way.

I will try those suggestions as well before I make my exchange next Wednesday. I think I have tried every buttom on the stereo, but with look for the reset and the detachable face button.

Thanks!
