That probably wasn't me. I was by bracketts but never by the bridge, and the dog is mostly german shepherd (we also left the lake about 9:15 so never really had the lights on). I actually wasn't catching really any crappies until 18 inch crappie gave me a small plastic tail to add to my hook to go along with the crappie minnow. I'm guessing i'll probabaly be out there monday so maybe we will run into each other then
good luck to ya

Hey that's a beauty! Looks like you found a ride the Wmn lv me last night...Good to hear!

You got mail.. let's give it a go next week!

Buzz,
I am usually fishing out state Minnesota on the weekends, but would really like to get together sometime next week with a few FM'ers. Maybe Monday evening or anytime next week, I am usually on Tonka three night a week??

I'm heading out to the Alexandria area in 5 minutes for those big ol' wally's, Hehe! It would be nice to place some faces with the usernames and like Wnm lv me said, scan the lake and meet back with some reports or I have room in my boat from time to time if you or anyone would like to take a ride in "Big Blue"!

Have a great weekend all,

Rips some lips,

AH grin.gif

Buzzsaw? Lentz I should have known that was you w/ a name like that! Why can't you catch any walleyes? Can't you remember where Corey G. used to take you? Guess who. P.M

Just a little note from the West Side. Out last night. Fished the humps in Cook's Bay, and some points around Crane and Eagle Islands (Upper Lake) in 20-28' without much success. Lindy rig and jigs tipped with fatheads were the weapon of choice but no luck. Nice to see the East Side has been producing for you guys. I live on the West Side but I may have to start expanding my travels. Good luck to you all.

Went out this morning. Caught 8, but only three made it to 16 inches. Had about 15 bass also. Seems like the fish are still a little on the finicky side. I got them on leechs and a lindy rig, which was the first time this year that this setup outperformed a jig and minnow.

Jerkin' M, Who can it be?? Hmmmmm... I'm stumped! Joe Joe? P. Riola?? arghhhhhh, not only can I not catch Walleye in that drink but I'm not 100% sure who the mystery person is... but great job pegging me!! I remember Corey taking us out on opener and slaying them and I sorta remember the spot... better not say... but it wasn't far from the trifecta of big island, fergusons pt and Diamond reef. Want to meet me out there?

One more thing, is Big G = Corey Geeeeeeee?

Heading out to Tonka tonight and should be at Gray's Bay access around 6:00 or so.

Any other FM'ers going to be there tonight?

I'll have two other anglers with me in a blue/gold 2003 Crestliner sport/fish w/ 115 hp Yamaha. I should mainly be on Browns Bay tonight. If you spot me out there give me a shout. Maybe trade some tips and tricks, I may even have a ice cold Budwieser for the thirsty! grin.gif

Did anyone have luck for walleye over the weekend? I faired pretty well on Clearwater Lake in Annandale including a 7 lbs pig right off the main lake sand bar. Lindy's tipped with leeches seemed to be there preferred meal. Wow, what a drop off that is and it's paved with fish! Give that a try if you plan on fishing that area sometime soon.

See you on the lake and good luck to all,

AH

AH,

I'll be out there, starting at Horsehoe reef. I might try trolling some minnow baits and shad raps on Diamond or Brown's after dark.

7 lb's , thats a nice fish Autumn hunt. Was out on the missisipi (ford dam) on saturday until 11 pm and between 2 of us we caught 0 fish (makes it pretty easy to keep track of how many a piece)
Good luck to you, I believe i am stuck this week getting the house in shape for myself and the wifes friends coming out from ohio this weekend.

Wow, what a nice evening to fish!
It was pure pleasure just sitting out there last night and wouldn't of mind if we caught nothing at all. If you didn't make it out last night I hear tonight is supposed to be a repeat. Get out there and ENJOY!

We started out on Diamond reef and caught a couple large mouth bass right off the bat on the south edge of the reef, including one that my fishing campanion caught that must of went 5 lbs! We just put our lines down and... Whamo.

If your game is bass, I suggest you check it out, but as many know me, walleye is my passion, so on I went over to Bracketts and within the first 5 min on the point I had a ever so light tap on the end of my line,... set the hook and then the battle started. It was a nice 3 lbs or so walleye, I was really pumped as the evening started strong and as the net went down to the side of the boat the walleye disapeared to the depts as the hook somehow dislodged from the lips. Errrr.

I then went over to the Mud Lake (Tangers) bridge "area" in Brows Bay and there we found a nice bunch of crappies, bass, northerns and yes, WALLEYE. The size of the walleye were minimal, but still a great time. We caught four walleye all around 9-14". Most all walleye were caught with floating Lindy's and leeches in 18-25 ft of water with the exception of one that was caught on a fathead minnow.

The crappies we caught were nice size, some even reached 3/4 lb and to catch 18 of them it made for a nice meal that I think we may fry up before we go out tonight! I returned all walleye back to the lake in hopes they someday they can be the size of the one I lost.

Calvinist,
After talking to you last night I hope you faired well also! Was that you in the darkness floating around Brackets??? I was looking forward to seeing how you were doing and wasn't sure were you disappeared too...

We were out until midnight last night as I couldn't quite get myself to leave, as you can expect I was one tired S.O.B. this morning as I drugged myself to work.

Good luck to all and see you on the lake,

AH

Bump... Anyone heading out to tonka this weekend?

Posted

Hey Buzz,
I sure you'll have PLENTY of company this weekend on the big lake! I hear last 4th of July weekend was nearly boat to boat traffic including a fatal mishap we would like to forget. I will be after the biggins on Cass/Leech and Winnie this weekend!

If you make it out this weekend post us a report if you could and I'll be out there Tuesday eve.

Good luck,

AH

I was on Brown's Bay last night- lots of northerns and one small walleye on a shad colored rapala, fast trolled along a weedline. I also spent time lindy rigging a leech and fathead from 17' out to 21' but all I caught were a few bluegill and more pike.

Hey I was on Minnetonka last weekend (one before the 4th) and I did allright. I fished Crystal Bay heavily. The sand bar and the weedy/rocky reef near Arcola(?) bridge. I caught a few small Walleye's on Gulp. I tried fatheads, nightcrawlers, and leeches. Nothing on Live bait. I was moving incredibly slow too. I tried different speeds once and a while and nothing. I got a few smallmouth and some Northern. The weather hasn't been that consistent, once it is I think the fishing will pick up. Does anyone fish Crystal bay? I've heard it's pretty good for all species of fish. I've also heard it can be dynamite for large Muskie and Northern.

Autumn, I had a sick child so I was unable to make it out on Tonka this weekend... probably for the better with all of the traffic out there... not sure when I'm going to be out there next... I'll let you know.

Posted

I was out on Brackets point the Friday before the fourth. Fished from about 8.30 to 11.30 (AM).... Picked up two snakes, two small walters, and a couple bass. Nothing major, but nice to be out and see a walleye to be re-assured they exist in that lake.

Once the boat traffic picks up on that lake, it almost becomes more trouble than its worth...

I'd like to offer up some tips, but haven't been fishing Tonka as of late. frown.gif

I'm going through withdrawls. Next week I'm going to start turning down invites and fish my own waters again. tongue.gif

yeh Tonkaboy,

You go do that so maybe we can start catching fish on our waters again.j/k
You should never outfish the host ya know. If anyone fishes with Tonkaboy, watchout he has a habit of doing that.

Good luck everyone

Out last night musky fishing -nothing. Switched over to walleyes aa sun was setting trolling cranks in 19 to 25ft. A 24" and 2 18" in fifteen minutes then got broke off by a good fish. Forgot to bring a flashlight or headlamp and it was too dark for me to retie. Windblown weededge pattern does it again!! Was marking a mess of fish. As for fishing with Tonkaboy - just accept he is going to catch more fish than you as part of the deal. You will still catch more than you would have.

Who is Tonkaboy???? Let the mystery be unveiled. ( :

He's definitely not "Mr. Special"! Just running into some luck as of late. grin.gif
