A few more decoy, spear and spearing pics

Dinnerpail,

Your spear looks like it may have been made by either Alfred or Heine Louis. Alfred made spears in Paynsville MN from about 1931 to 1976. Heine was making spears near Cologne, MN during the same time period. I cross referenced your spearhead with several reference books and this is the best possible match I can come up with.

Do you have any additional information about where your grandfather purchased the spear? I think one of Alfred's sons may still run his blacksmith shop in Paynsville, but I am not sure about that.

I tried it in the aquarium, and it looks like it will swim ok. I am going out today and giving it a real test.

Nice looking Decoys Sham. You are a few steps ahead of me, but I'm learning. Nice bass.... The other one scares me.

sham, last year you showed pics of crappie, nord, and sunfish decoy on here. would like to know what it cost me to have one of each made. it is my intent to display them on a shelf in my bar/family room. have you ever made a frog deke?

Here are my 2 spears!

This one was given to me from my Grandpa. From what he claims, there was a couple of guys from the Win-E-Mac area that use to make spears.

Heres the other one.

The first spear was made by Erskine by the two brothers named Skiple. If I remember right it might have cost $14.00 when it was new. They are very collectable up here. I sold one last season for $200.00. The other spear might have been made over by Flom. I can’t remember what his name is. Dang senior frown moments. Is the second one heavy?

Very Nice Fish Toys! Thanks for the info! My grandpa is the barber in Waubun, and says people are always in wanting to buy it. Dave Boman made the 2nd one and it is pretty heavy. Unless I'm just use to using the Skiple spear because it is very light.

Looks good, especially being only your third one.

Do you have the top fin pinned, where the line tie is? If not, it might come out when a fish hits.

yeah its pinned sham, hopefully when I color it it will look as good as I think it does now.

Last time we had that up at a friend's cabin. He shoved his wifes hair dry on High down the hole went in and made breakfast.  Open by lunch!  🤗

Very nice one man house. The straight front wall makes much more useable area than if it was slanted. I got one two years ago but only have used it a few times. 😬 An extra pair of hands are handy when attaching the skin to the tub. Going to get it down from the shelf in the garage and it will reside in the back of my truck the rest of the season. 😀

Central America.   Focus.   We almost went for a local overnight crappie run but the daughter’s septic froze so I got to work the brown trout pond through a 4 inch hole.   It was opener today afterall. 😉

Ok, how did we get from crappies and freezing temps to pond slime eaters in south America?  Focus!  🙄

The locals there shoot ducks but don't hunt them. If they see a bunch on a pond they'll sneak up and water swat them but it's strictly for food not sport. My buddy runs an outfitter so him and I will hunt a few days and scout then I'll help him with a group whose coming mid week. He's from there. Hoping he can come to Canada next year with me. He's never seen or shot a goose

Awesome kind of trip! I figured there would be a local benefit if you couldn’t bring them back (not saying you can’t).  Having a connection down there is pretty cool!   We donated a good share of meat to the village in Kotzebue, AK instead of shipping it all back.  Pretty pricey and they really appreciated it.  Win/win.

I don't bring them back, eat a lot then clean them for the village. Some like them plucked and some like the breasts cut out. It's really remote where I go and the locals live off the land. I know they want me to go get some doves for them too. My buddy is a local so we'll probably go get a deer as well for some venison for some of the elders in the community

🤣 i actually dont mind eating duck...like goose more better though!!!!

Ya cooked em wrong! lol!   Not even sure if you can bring ‘em back from Central America?  You can’t from Argentina, last I heard.
