Thanks Hitman. I do sell some, mostly to the people I work with. Most of the ones pictured in my earlier post are gone, except the northern, sucker and frog. Those I am going to keep. I've got a couple northerns ready to paint, and a couple perch carved out waiting for fins and lead. I haven't been real ambitious lately.

Shamalex, if you can come to one of the get togethers please bring down what you have. I am sure you could sell a few of your decoys! I would love to add one to my collection someday.

Ok here we go I hope this works, This first decoy was made by Berry Dowagiac in 1988, the second is made by Tom Christianson, a four point Heddon Replica. Number three is by James Stangland in Baudette where I just returned from and the walleye fishing was the best ever. Number four is by Harold Miller I don't know much about him but I sure liked this decoy. and last but not least, This one is made by David rasmussen, full body scale and very bright. Well I hope you enjoyed this pictures, and I hope I loaded them correctly.

I found a picture of a pair of decoys I made as gifts, nothing fancy, one is on the desk at Ballards resort up at LOW, and the other was given as a gift to a guy that made me a custom jigging rod.

I picked up a MikeDaPike (from Kalkaska, Michigan) decoy on an on-line auction site last week.

I can't wait to go out and try it.

NO merkman you don’t have enough! You need a lot more different colored ones in different sizes and shapes.

Wheew.. Thanks for the guidance.. I was starting to go to toward the dark side there for a minute. Musta been all the brainwashing/propaganda the wife was throwing my way.

Merkman, how big is your new decoy? It looks huge next to your others.

13 and 3/4 inches.

A little bigger than I expected.

I am going to spear Rainy Lake so I am hoping to get a big pig come and check it out. I don't think I will spear a big one but I would love to see one!!!

If you think that one is big.. wait until next week.

I will post a pic of the new decoy I ordered.

Nice collection, but like everyone else said, you can never have enough

Then and now. The perch is from today and the other is one of the first few that I ever made. I think its close to 20 years old. Looks like the tail is hot glued on, and the bottom fins are nailed on. I used whatever dad had laying around back then. If I remember right, it swam good and attracted a fish or two. I am kind of surprised that it was never thrown away or lost.

This was my grandfather spear and the one I have had for the past 30 some years. It's 7 1/2 inches wide with a 5 foot handle. It is well balanced and takes very little effort to throw. I have yet to find one that throws as well as this one. I have been told its to narrow by some but beg to differ.

That is very nice spear you have there Dinnerpail. I will do a little checking in a few spear reference books and try to place it, but right off hand I don't recognize this maker. Thanks for sharing.

the old spears are always good! I have a few different ones as well, which i like my laser becuase it seems to be faster in the water!

But the old ones that were built back in the day, are by far the best built.

Last time we had that up at a friend's cabin. He shoved his wifes hair dry on High down the hole went in and made breakfast.  Open by lunch!  🤗

Very nice one man house. The straight front wall makes much more useable area than if it was slanted. I got one two years ago but only have used it a few times. 😬 An extra pair of hands are handy when attaching the skin to the tub. Going to get it down from the shelf in the garage and it will reside in the back of my truck the rest of the season. 😀

Central America.   Focus.   We almost went for a local overnight crappie run but the daughter’s septic froze so I got to work the brown trout pond through a 4 inch hole.   It was opener today afterall. 😉

Ok, how did we get from crappies and freezing temps to pond slime eaters in south America?  Focus!  🙄

The locals there shoot ducks but don't hunt them. If they see a bunch on a pond they'll sneak up and water swat them but it's strictly for food not sport. My buddy runs an outfitter so him and I will hunt a few days and scout then I'll help him with a group whose coming mid week. He's from there. Hoping he can come to Canada next year with me. He's never seen or shot a goose

Awesome kind of trip! I figured there would be a local benefit if you couldn’t bring them back (not saying you can’t).  Having a connection down there is pretty cool!   We donated a good share of meat to the village in Kotzebue, AK instead of shipping it all back.  Pretty pricey and they really appreciated it.  Win/win.

I don't bring them back, eat a lot then clean them for the village. Some like them plucked and some like the breasts cut out. It's really remote where I go and the locals live off the land. I know they want me to go get some doves for them too. My buddy is a local so we'll probably go get a deer as well for some venison for some of the elders in the community

🤣 i actually dont mind eating duck...like goose more better though!!!!
    • Wanderer
Ya cooked em wrong! lol!   Not even sure if you can bring ‘em back from Central America?  You can’t from Argentina, last I heard.
    • Wanderer
I coulda been packed in 30 minutes, ya know….   Have a good, safe trip and make us, well me anyway, jelly with a few pics.  Please.
