Your Right LMITOUT! Just like you are in the Outdoor Discussion Forum. Maybe you should just state the facts and let other people look through the forum and post yes we agree.

Can you expand on the fishing in the area instead of getting tied into politics all the time. That IS what the forum for the Hutchinson Area should be doing right? Posting tips and providing information on fishing reports and helping people?

I see a bunch of negativity and that about sums it up, no fishing/recreational help. If that's what it takes to be a moderator, a trained chimp could get this job accomplished.

I'm just expressing the other side of it, the same feelings that many have of this traffic controlling device. Because someone doesn't agree with those opinions doesn't make it negative. All I'm saying is they could have widened the circle (as was originally planned) and it would have pretty much eliminated the tearing up of the grass areas. It wouldn't take that much. Isn't wanting green grass a positive thing? wink

I'm not sure what else to say about fishing in this area. I, along with a few others, have always attempted to make conversation but there seems to be more readers than writers looking for tips and fishing reports but not sharing. It is unfortunate that others have tried to talk about fishing only but to get chastised for sharing information. I have people tell me (phone/email) that they aren't going to put up with that and now don't post anymore. It's too bad that this secret squirrel community has won out over the people who want to exchange ideas and stories.

Feel free to start up a thread about fishing and recreation in the area if you have something to talk about regarding those items. Anyone can start a thread and are more than welcome as they always have been.

I was actually able to see the roundabout as we flew into the cities on our return trip from Cali today. Interesting to see from 10,000ft up (or however high we were). Also suprising to see how many roundabouts there are east of Hutch.

The big ruts are from when the state patrol escorted a oversize load through on sat,,, some sort of huge cylinder thing,,, seen it with my own eyes,, frickin huge

I just saw the same thing. There were two heading east down highway 7 through town and another one stuck in the roundabout on 15. They are sections of wind turbine towers. I had to stop on the west side of the Outpost and a guy told me the truck was stuck/stopped there for over an hour and traffic coming from the north was backed up as far as you could see. I'm guessing they diverted the other two sections that I saw to the west to avoid the roundabout, but with the convoy of scout vehicles they use for oversized loads I don't understand why they wouldn't have had an alternate route for this guy too. I can only imagine what was going through that truck driver's head when he realized what he was heading into. Yikes!

a good friend of mine lives down on buffalo ridge,, hundreds of turbines down there. He is on the fire dept, they get to rappel from the tops of them for training,,, no way you would catch me even half way up there...

Worked today with the supervisor that got to go back and clean up the mess. 215' was the length on one of the trucks.

my personal opinion of the roundabout is that they suck and they dont work like they r suppose to like over in Europe. only because over in Europe they are huge and they all drive tiny cars and mopeds. the roundabouts on major highways r a bad idea and a big waste of money and time wasted making it and for truckers that have to try to make there way around them

I like the new road signs, the ones that use to say "Road work ahead" now have been altered to say Road Pork Ahead"

Alright, I think we can probably let this topic die it's slow death and move on. Nobody is happy about it but what are you going to do? Let's move on, please.

I agree it's time to let it die, but disagree with the statement that nobody is happy. lets just let it die, and there were opposing viewpoints for both sides!!! fair enough??

If there would have been a roundabout in St Cloud on HWy 15 and 2nd street, a 85 year old woman would not have been killed when her husband turned in front of one of those overside loads transporting the 125 foot windmills Wednesday.

How do you not see a 225' long load coming? Especially with highway patrol escorts and the rest of the convoy of flashing lights?

Roundabout or not, it appears that wasn't going to solve anything in this instance.

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but they've been rolling through town pretty consistently this past week. I've been seeing the loads early in the morning heading down main street.

Anybody know where they're heading?

Wow....high speed trains to devil's lake. Now there's a good use of taxpayer dollars. Of all the places to put a high speed rail...

Hey government,  Just give us choices. I don’t care what people use as long as as it works for you. I’m needing a new weed eater. Plan on a Stihl FS 40 easy start. I’m done with the cheaper brands. Just don’t last long enough.  Probably true with the Stormy Daniels of the world as well. Cheaper don’t last long enough 🤭

If you turn on a movie they survive the 20min ride just fine. After many controlled experiments, I've found that they survive much better if you show "Finding Nemo" instead of "Jaws."

Quick update: Lucky 7 now has rainbows, fatheads, crappie and light pike in stock. If I remember correctly, scoop of rainbows was $8.99.  Stopped at L&M in Virginia. Rainbows $6.99, fatheads and crappie minnows (scoop) $3.99. I was billed $6.99 dozen for rainbows, but was given a healthy scoop!

I have had the same old Strikemaster augers for years, take care of them and they will last a long time.   I think E-augers are nice for around home lakes or at the cabin. The thing that was a eye opener to me was being in D-Rock in New Brighton getting new blades and there were two guys that just got back from a week in Canada on a big ice fishing trip and both very pissed off at their e-augers dying! They were both buying new gas augers.

On the south end...   Things are shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener which takes place Saturday, May 11th.  Recent rain has brought up the water levels, which were low.  The walleyes and saugers are in very good shape across the south shore.  Expectations are high. The goto presentation this weekend will be a jig and frozen emerald shiner or other kind of minnow.  Emerald shiners are a staple in LOW and walleyes love them.     Hook the shiner through the mouth and out the gill.  Push the minnow all the way up to the jig head and hook the minnow as far back as possible.  This will give you a better hooking percentage.     Jig sizes and colors?  This is stained water so you can get away with a big heavier jig, which is nice for those who don't fish a lot.  It enables them to have more control and feel the bottom.  A quarter ounce jig is a good size for starters.     In stained water, gold, glow white, glow red, pink, orange and chartreuse, or a combo of those colors, are great places to start.   The limit of walleyes and saugers is a combined limit of six fish, up to four of the six can be walleyes.  All walleyes between 19.5 - 28.0 inches must be released.  One fish over 28.0 inches can be kept.  The possession limit in MN is one daily limit of fish. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, there will be some good pike caught this weekend.  The pike season on LOW is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one fish allowed more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. On the Rainy River...  Sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River has been excellent.  The catch and release season is May 8 - 15.  The keep season starts up again July 1st. FYI, there will be some nice walleyes in the Rainy River for the fishing opener.  Lots of sturgeon anglers are reporting big walleyes being caught on sturgeon rigs! Up at the NW Angle...  Angle resorts are ready to roll for the opener.  As many of you know, this is the area of LOW where the islands begin.  Lots of structure.     Go to spots for walleyes, neck down areas, shoreline breaks, points and bays which will have warmer water.  In true NW Angle form, be ready for a mixed bag of fish.  In addition to walleyes and saugers, pike, jumbo perch, crappies, and even a few smallies and muskies will be caught.   Again, the goto presentation will be a jig and minnow. Slow trolling a crankbait will also produce fish if need be.

Totally disagree Gim. I have a gas Jiffy legend auger. Never issues. Take a little time to care for it before putting it away and good to go. Sincei started using non oxygen gas, startron and seafood in never have issues with my 2 strokes.   seafood???   I'd try seafoam!!!   🤣
