Let us know how ya do garpod! I might be heading up there on Monday. It's a loooong walk to the area I like to fish, though, so I'm not sure what we'll end up doing

yep...I've been thinking of hitting Pok as well, but it is a long walk to where I would start. Might be worth it though to beat the masses.

I was at the pokegama supper club today and witnessed a full size suburban cruise across the ice, followed by a small geo metro. The reports I solicited from the diner were about 9" of ice, definitely not enough for me to drive on!

I was out on Monday. Did pretty good but man what a walk! I parked on the access on the north side and walked all the way to the south side of the island. Good exercise carrying an auger, flasher, 2 rods and a chair, and to add insult to injury 10 nice crappies and 10 nice sunnies to carry back! It was a weird bite though, alotta fish on the flasher that would just come up and look and I just couldn't talk into biting, the only ones that would bite came in like freight trains and just smacked the waxie.

There was a couple of trucks and cars out, but there was maybe 10-12" of ice, and I didn't wanna take a risk. Oh, and I found out after I got out there about the access 1/2 mile from the island. GRRRRR!!!!

my buddy got video of a white suburban flying across the ice last year. At one point thought he was gonna flip cause of the doughnuts he was wiping at those speeds.....green geo came through a little later.

did well few yrs in a row catchin crapps maybe 2 ft under the ice. Heard of a great day bite from a lake resident. Might try it here after some of the slush freezes. haven't fished it for 2 years though.

Fished fom 1pm till dusk & caught 2walleyes & 2 dink perch. 6" of snow with 2"-3" of water underneath it. 11"(where we were)of good solid ice. Saw a suburban and 1/2 ton pick on the ice. I'm not driving out quite yet.

Hows the bite been? Have anyone plowed the roads yet? Thanks for any information.

I've been fishing this lake steady for about 6 years.. my biggest walleye was 28 1/2.. Released..The lake gets bombarded in the winter.. Especially around the island.. I have addapted to the rise and fall.. fall and rise of the fishery..PREASURE.. I will be putting my shack out next weekend..My friends that live on the lake are already out..Let's make sure the Vandals and SLOBS GO HOME!! Have a good one..

How thick is the ice out there?

Posted

I'm curious about ice as well, I'm thinking of hitting it tomorrow and would like to drive out..if at all possible.

I was out there on my way home from "up nort" on Thursday. I didn't fish, just stopped by the accesses to see if they were plowed. There is a road plowed out that goes to the hole straight west of the access on the middle of the lake. Saw a couple of vehicles out on the lake, I'd still be pretty careful. A good path went out from the north and south access, but didn't look plowed. Looked like LOTS of slush if ya get off the trails!

I fished it all last weekend with a wheeler and I seen many vehicles drive out and pulling big houses. I measured between 14 and 16 inches of ice. I did not run into any slush.

Were you out the Sunday a.m.?

Posted

Nope PM. and on wheeler

OK I was out in the a.m. I would of said hello if I recognized you out there.

I'm looking for ice thickness updates. Thanks for any feed back.

Fished Pokegema (sp) today form 8-3:30. Only caught 10, of which 3 were really small. Had a hard time marking fish, and even if i did they really bit light, or not at all. I don't know how someone could see/feel a bite unless they had a spring bobber.

Tough day out there today, but sure was nice out.

Where were ya at Jonny?

I'm not really sure where you call it. If you come on the lake from the S access, I was off the first point on the E side, in the deeper hole. I've done alright there in the past, but today was an off day.

I was out there today, went off the southwest side of the island. Drilled a bunch of holes, from 14-17 fow. Fished from 7:30-11:00 and caught 7 crappies and I think 6 gills, all were keepers. One nice crappie at 11-12". Real slow but they were biting pretty good, most of the fish we saw on the flasher were solid biters.

I fished this lake once last year and cant remember where the access is. Anybody help me out? Thinking of trying it this weekend.

thanks

You have two ways on the lake from the north end the first is the dnr ramp that is just after the gas station on bayside loop to the left or go to the first left after the bridge on cty rd 11 and take that down to your last left and go on the lake by the Floppie Crappie.

We are heading up to work on some land we bought by the lake and were thinking about fishing the lake, can anyone tell me if there are any springs to be wary of or is the ice thickness pretty consistent? thanks.
