JP. Great report! Thanks for sharing your passion and emotion for fishing. I lost my Dad a few years back as well, and I completely understand your feelings. Thanks too for openly sharing your faith. It takes a strong man to publicly express those thoughts and feelings, and you've got my support 100%! You are indeed blessed.

Your reports are terrific! Gotta get ya' one of those shoulder mounted camera holders! One of these days we're gonna be getting podcasts from the camera at the bottom of Lake of the Woods!

Started 1.5 Miles North West off the end of Morris points Road Friday night in 33.5 ' of water with a few walleyes and many whitefish through Saturday. Biggest Walleye came Sat. night with 24". Moved 1.5 miles west on Sunday until we reached 37' (about 2 miles east of Long Point). The bite was on with a good mix of Saugers Sunday after noon and some nice Eyes through Monday morning. After the temp warmed up the fish went from very lethargic to quite aggressive. Jigging Rap worked well when the fish were moving where as a set line next to jigging spoon worked better when things were slow.

5 fish in the slot from 20-24 and 2 short of a limit for 6 guys.

Nice report! Thank you for sharing with us about your dad. I also lost my dad 6 years ago this fall at the age of 58. He was my fishing partner and best friend. Not a day goes by that I am on the ice and I don't think of the good times we had together. I remember when I was about 8 fishing out of Zipple Bay. I even remember staying at a place in Williams (I think?) that was like a B&B that had a bar down below it. I wonder if that place is still there??? Memories are great.

We are heading up Friday - Monday. Can't wait to tie into a bunch of sauger and eyes.

Last Saturday and Sunday out 12.5 miles on adrians road was slow. A lots of 4-6" walleyes and only six saugers between 14-16" on Saturday. Got out early on Sunday and had 9 saugers and 1 walleye in the bucket by 9:00 a.m. then the switch flipped and only two keepers the rest of the day. Heading up to Zipple with the wheel house the 26th for three days.

What is the average amount of fish caught in a day up there these days?

Last weekend we had 33,21,36,12.

Thats a full days friday,sat.and sunday and till 11 on Monday.

The cold weather has a effect on the fish sat. This was for four guys.

Drilled holes at 16 mile north of Gull Rock and near the end of the road north of Pine Island yesterday and found 26-28" at 16 mi and 30-32" north or Pine. My friend barely got through with an old Eskimo auger north of Pine.

Looks like colder weather coming next week so doesn't appear at this point mid March will be a problem. However I'm no wx man and things can change in a hurry. There isn't much snow cover and once that's gone warm, sunny days could make a dent.

We plan on doing tip ups one day and walleye in the house the other two days. Depending what outfit says about fishing. Think ill have solid ice that time of year?

just got back from a quick trip to zippel. fished from 10am-7pm sunday and 7am-11am monday. 5 of us caught 32 keepers. threw back a 21.5 and a 24.5 and a bunch under 12". mostly sauger. caught a half dozen tullies as well. marked fish constantly. sauger were light biters. the walleyes on the other hand came in and smacked the jigs. fun trip with the kids!

Nice report Wingnut, what kinda depths were you fishing in?? J.P's latest report has me second guessing my strategy. (heading up weds thru sat.) Up untill now it was deep deep and deeper, but now im thinking it may be more of a case of just get away from the crowds in anything like 25 plus and take your chances.

I fished out of Adrian's, 14 miles out from the island this past weekend, 6 guys. Day 1, 48 walleye and sauger, 30 keepers. Day 2, 27 walleye and sauger, finished out our limits. More walleye than sauger where we were, but the house 100 yards away got a lot more sauger than walleye. I think it's because they weren't paying enough attention to their flashers and failed to realize the marks coming in 4-15 feet off bottom were nice walleyes. We got 7 slot fish, biggest was 23.5.

HEy everyone. Been watching the posts for months now but never posted. I am going to LOW in 2 weeks. Fishing on our own but my brother has a pass to use Zipple Bay's access. How are the fish biting out there. Are they still deep or are they getting shallower? How deep can you get there with the pressure ridge? If you follow the trail when it turns on Lindy Lane does it get deeper than 30-32? any info would be appreciated.
