Spoon lake

I was not aware of that dam, thanks for the heads up. It's all moot any how. The weather sucks too much right now to even have interest in fishing.

Lake Phalen has had alot of nice bluegills come out of it in the past, some nice crappies too. It is well worth a trip in the cold to catch some of them i would say.

I might stop by there tomorrow to fish from shore to conduct an experiment..."gulp waxies vs. real waxies". This is the year I am finally gonna use that stuff and see for myself if it really works.

I tried the gulp waxies numerous times this winter, and finally during my last trip I caught some crappies on them. They wouldn't touch the live stuff at all.

I'm glad someone caught something on them, I've never caught a thing on the Gulp waxies.

When I lived in St. Paul I used to fish the channel between Round & Phalen on the west side, the one that bends south out of Round, caught some nice sunnies & the odd crappie as well. Nice place to kick off the season, I always thought, lots of wood in the water & never too crowded.

So, hahaha. No one fish this lake? If I am correct, bass should still be bitting. I know what type of lure there biting and soon walleyes should be coming in in august.
