Recommended Posts

Can people drive out on these lakes? i have never fished them and would like some help. How about the fishing on them? What is mostly caught? any help would be great.

Thanks,

I would highly advise AGAINST driving on Union. Although the ice is pretty good in most spots I have ran in to a couple areas that are pretty shaky. Another problem with Union right now is the hidden slush pockets that are 5-12 inches deep. If you got caught in one of those you would have a horrible time getting out. You'd have better luck with a wheeler with chains or a snowcat.

Talked to a guy tonight and he said they are driving on west union. The slush froze so that won’t be an issue. Light biters and they missed a few setting the hook. I would still be wary of going straight across it from the public.

Planning on heading to Union this weekend for the first time. Just wondering if anyone has any tips on what depth, lures, or time of day are working best? Are they driving full-sized trucks or just smaller vehicles? Any info appreciated!

Well we got out yesterday evening and managed 5 smaller walleyes and missed a couple. Nothing fantastic, but pretty decent considering it was our first time on the lake.

Where did you set up? Were there many houses out? I’ll have to take a drive up there and take a look. 6 miles north of me. Haven’t heard any reports from the locals.
