River *DELETED*

Recommended Posts

The river comes right through town and it looks like it came up 2 foot.

It also looks muddy, which hurts the fishing.

wow!!!! some people won't let things go, if there is even something to let go!! either way this is not the place to bring these type of accusations up........the thing that gets me is that if you didn't put yourself out there with name and pics they wouldn't know who you are and they would love the replies and help!! to each their own but we don't need that on the forums.

Krinkle, Maybe you need to read the forum rules, your post was not appropriate in my opinion. Kieth was trying to help you, as he has helped so many on this forum. Have a nice day!

Hey Fisheye.

How did your last trip up go?

Freakin stupid weather.

Had it been what we had a week or so before you got here,we had been drilling fish.

That cold sent everything into some sort of dulldrum mood.

Who won your big fish?

I guess that's why they call it fishing....it had me scratching my head trying to come up with a new pattern.

I'm thinking a dupont spinner was the next go too lure.

I just emailed your quote to my nephew. He can hit the target at 100 yds, but can't hit a deer at 50'.

LOL.

The weather turned everything off just bad timing a 27" took big fish normally 34 plus is winner. The last day with 3 boats and 6 guys we only caught 6 fish. On a good note I found some new walleye holes me and my brother boated 10 eyes in about 5 hrs largest being a 17" BSL finally produced some Walleyes believe or not in 17-20 ft water which is very uncommon. Been fishing Wisconsin alot lately been doing very good keep in touch see you next season. And thanks for the the time you spent with us

Hey Shackbash, thanks for the support !

The question was about the Mississippi up here.

She's even higher than when I made the last post.

This rain keeps raising her.

I know the lakes are up about 5-6 inches, which was very badly needed.

I don't get on the site much this time of year, so I missed what was said about CK. but I can say from what I have read, and the little I have talked with CK in palisade, that he is a great guy. we need to get together this winter CK, and catch some slabs.

Just as soon as we can get this duck season over & survive 3 weeks of deer I'll be so ready to hunker down on top of some slabbers!

I feel sorry for you Krinkle, the fact that you dwell on other peoples mistakes only makes me think that you have a miserable life yourself.

God should bless you!!

Thanks for the kind words Solocam.

I'll be on BSL this year with tons of fishermen so I'm sure this kind of bashing will continue from these type of people. They think their lake is going to be out fished or for whatever selfish reason they try to subvert me.

I've been through treatment now and things are looking up.

Yet there are those that feel pretty lousey about themselves and will try to put others down to make themselves feel better, now that's a pretty hollow victory and to be honest we should try to help them.

Sometimes there is no help for them because they think they do not need it.

All you can do is try.

I know I'll have a few guys this weekend that I'll be helping to read there locators and catch fish.

All for nothing, but the chance to make 1 more fishing buddy.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
