Has anybody been out there lately, my father said that they were biting. I have some friends comming down from the crookston area and they would like to go walleye fishing?

The Donk

Don't know about the recent bite, but was out there last winter and the size is definitely on the small size. We did manage 3 keepers about 14" long out of the 12-15 we caught back then, (if I remember right) grin.gif

grab the net

They are biting very well, but yoiu can fit your limit of six easily into a 5 quart ice cream pail. Majority are 8-11 inches long. Great place to bring kids. Fathead under a bobber does the trick. Once in a while you hear of someone getting a 18 inch hold over but not often. Guys from all over the country, telling everyone "they got their limit". Usually saying they were "good eating size". Have heard from people that they are soft when they clean them. But it is a hot bite right now.

spear foot 1

I went by yesterday morning and there were 4 or 5 boats on the lake. I thought maybe they were pan fishing becuz they were all using bobbers. But after reading the other post they must have been after walters. Are there other fish in the lake like sunnies, bass, northerns?

No, from what my fathers friend(retired game warden) says, it was a walleye rearing pond, and they were having problems with larger fish eating all of the small ones, so they opened up to fishing a couple of years ago.

What length of the HT BLUES are you looking for? I've seen some 24" @ Walmart stores. Some in the rod/reel combos n some just the rod itself. I got my 30" frm Frankie's bait in Chisago so if you're in that area you can check it out or give them a call. I remember seeing some @ Blue Ribbon baits in Maplewood also. You can also give them a call. I hope this helps.

I shoot through the bottom..  Use plumbers putty to make a ring and use some to keep the diversity in place.   I just add enough water to make a good conductor.  Works great.  No worries about snagging the ducer outside the boat.  As for finders I have an old fish eagle, buddy just picked up a battery operated color unit from amazon says it worked good.

I noticed this morning that it had heaved out in Miller Bay kind of between the DNR access and Four Mile Bar. Really raising heck with my shore. Going to have to take a sledge hammer to my shore tomorrow so I can get out.

any current report on ice thickness around palisade?

That's doubtful with the warm forecast.

Just learned that someone broke through on Reno last night. He was pulling his 7'x12' fish house with his ATV and dropped the back of his fish house through on 3" out in the middle of the lake. Fortunately, nobody was hurt and he was able to somehow get it retrieved this morning. I guess they had to go over 100' from the front of the ATV to find 10" of ice.
