Welcome to Fishing MN!

Haven't heard any reports yet, but there were a handful of portables out there on Friday afternoon.

Nothing so far. This is really the first weekend that people have ventured out. I'm guessing some reports will begin to trickle in this week and even more next weekend as the ice gets a little better. I'm planning on getting out later this week for the first time.

we were on Jennie on saturday 8 inches of ice pretty much all over on the south side. We caught some small northerns but that was it. I talked to one other guy and he said he had 1 walleye but that was it. I am going to try another lake on this Saturday and see what happens.

Might try posting in the Hutchinson forum for a better reply.

It was the main ice fishing forum when I posted.

When you find out, tell the rest of us.

Seriously, no one is going to tell you what lake they are catching walleyes on. Because they post it here today and Friday night the lake looks like an Ice Castle trailer park.

Of course there is some action out there, jus where is the real ? People have become tight lipped and for good reason around here regarding any "hot" walleye bites. Its getn pretty late in the year and with oxygen levels in alot of lakes dropping drastically, walleyes especially have not been hammering on many lakes in the hutch area. Save your time and effort and concentrate on panfish this time of the year. Maybe give Stahls or Erie a try if your lookn for action. Cedar could be another that in years past has produced some panfish later in the year like now. Good luck and welcome to FM!

There's action, if you find the right lake. Find the wrong lake and you'll get no action, or small fish.

I agree totally, go for panfish or maybe try some tip-up fishing.

OK. If you're looking for the best spot to get walleye in the Hutch area, try this GPS location. Might be your best bet right now.

Cash Wise? Nice.

Bucks probably has the best suggestion for you....target the panfish. The weather looks promising which will make for better hole hopping.

Just trying to help the lad get some walleye. I might be hitting that spot for some myself as the freezer only has panfish right now.

I have heard it's because of the drought. I know in my area ( meeker co.) the sloughs that they trap minnows in have dried up.

Excuse my ignorance, but was is driving the bait prices? Usually the shortage is due to a late ice-out from the swamps and streams. This year should have been much better.

I should probably learn to use the 6+ containers of lures I have collecting dust in my tackle box. We got on a decent crappie bite the last couple of evenings and I broke out some plastics.  I caught some crappies on them ,just need to build my confidence in using them! I did notice they didn't seem to hold on to them as long as minnows!

      Great news, thank Skunked

Minnows are 50 cents each, and leeches are $50 a pound.
    • SkunkedAgain
Absolutely. I get full bars all-along the drive from Cook to The Landing, and out into Head O Lakes bay. I can't say that I've stared much at my phone signal anywhere else besides on my way to Black Bay. We still don't get much for service there because there are a lot of steep slopes with tall trees in the way. That was expected though. The tower is definitely providing better service to the area in general IMO.
    • PSU
Any updates on this new tower? Has it helped AT and T customers throughout the lake get better service?

Thanks for the heads up. Cigar.

The price will blow your mind if they get some

Went in to Lucky 7 to get some crappie minnows today. All they had were crappie minnows and fatheads. She said to call in advance for the opener, couldn't say for sure if they'd have rainbows, shiners, etc for opener!
