trolling down?

Question

Bobb-o

had a debate going aboot whether or not it is excessively hard on a 50 horse to take it down to trolling speeds, not too worried aboot noise, just wondering if this is causing excessive wear on the outboard.

I'd say no, its easier on an engine to run at low rpm rather than high.

I have a 115 yam, it trolls 75% of the time, no problems with it.

Is it a four stroke? If so should be no problem. I have a 90HP Johnson 2 stroke and troll plugs with it with no problems but when I am done trolling I open it up for awhile to prevent it from gumming up.
