Lake City Marina?

5 posts in this topic

Anyone been fishing in the Lake City Marina? I'm thinking of trying it out Friday or Saturday this weekend. Just wondering if the Crappies or anything else is biting.

Me and one of my buddies went there yesterday, nothing at all. I talked to a guy that was there before us and he only caught one small crappie. He was a little frustrated and packed up shop. Water needs to warm up before crappie bite turns on. If you can pull yourself away from the NBA playoffs, thats usually the time the crappies start popping.

My brother and mom were down in the harbor on Friday evening and caught a half dozen crappie, Catfish, and had a decent sized bass up to the shore before it jumped off. They also said the people next to them were pulling them in left and right.

I crossed over to the dark side of smallies about 15 years ago. Mostly chase pannies in winter but used to chase eyes a few times on the hard water each season.   I could post a ton of pics if you need more proof.

Sorry to make you hold up a bottom feeder, but we needed to see it!

I was up over the weekend and my shoreline was getting pretty sketchy.  Had a pocket of open water down the shore about a 100 yards. Where I could see the bottom in two to three feet of water.  Walked out about a hundred yards and popped four holes Saturday afternoon. There was 17- 18.5"s of ice in those four holes. Looking at the forecast I can't see the ice sticking around too much longer.  The holes I popped had 5-6" of pretty mushy cloudy stuff on top and about 12"s of pretty solid stuff underneath it.
