12 posts in this topic

So is the Ranch house closed yet? When we were up there in the fall it was only open for breakfast and it had for sale signs up...

Famed for the Biggest Pancakes Ive ever seen and ate... What will we do without the big cakes?

I was just up there and ate the "Pancake" 2 weeks ago. It is going to be a sad day when I can't get my cake before I hit the water/ice.

The first time I ordered the "Pancake"... I told the waitress "I'm not that hungry so I'll have 2 pancakes"...

She asked.. "are you sure" .... I replied "yup"...

I soon found out why she questioned my order....

The ranch house is about half way thru Baudette, on the south side of the highway[11]. I bet you can't eat 2 of them. And I hope you don't try.

Reading this thread kinda bums me out that I will not be able to get my Patty melt on the way to the NWA this year. Is there another place in town that has good food with such fast service ?

The way our timing works out we are always there right before lunch time and get really fast service and are back on the road.

Fished Cannon lake this evening. I bounced around from 12-5ft of water and started to mark fish in 8ft so I set up there until dark. I saw a bunch of fish come in for a look but not one nibble. Tried every color and style spoon and jig I had but nothing.

Best thing you can do if you won't be around is to put the house on fresh ice, don't drill any holes, and put it on blocks.  When people get into trouble is if it gets windy and they have open holes under the house, that rain starts blowing around on top of the ice, and starts swirling down into the holes under the house....that swirling water EATS ice, and can sink a house pretty quick.     As as far as the ice on the lakes, if you have 14-15 inches of good ice like most places around, you'll have no worries if you do what is posted above.

Rented a sleeper out on Garrison Bay Sunday night with some friends. Fishing was slow but we managed a few walleyes. Best went 23" on the rattle reel. Was a lot of fun though, wish the bite could have been better. How is everyone else doing out there? Any good bites or has it pretty much slowed down for everyone.     Here is a video of the trip:
