Is there any action below the dam or in the backwaters for walleye, sauger, white bass, etc in mid october?

The sauger really stack up in front of the dam in the late fall. Last year I fished right up until Dec. 20 and did quite well. The only problem is the nicer the day the more boats you will see. I counted 60 boats within view of the dam one day. It is as close to bumper boats as you can get. Below the "Y" is pretty good with a little more room to operate but you still have to put up with the boat traffic to the dam and back. My advice is to pick a weekday morning and you should have a good experience.
