Old Fishing Reports!

Recommended Posts

Got a chance to head out today after a lull in fishing. Found some success but had problems with these post frontal conditions. Found a couple of 14-15" eyes shallow, 6-8 fow and a handful of gills (4 @8") to boot. Sure was a nice day to be out at least.

Going to check out Beebe today. Hoping to find some panfish as I am taking my 3 year old.

I might try the winter tactics to see if we can find some crappies suspending deep.

Went out and only caught one small sunny. I had heard the Walleyes were biting but did not find any.

Last week I got some real nice bass out of Sommers plus a huge pike. Got this Monday off not sure where to go to not get blown off of the lake, of course my wife thinks I'm crazy! With a new baby this year I have to sneak out when I can. Any suggestions on a lake that will shelter me from the WNW wind?

Oh yeah I fond all of the bass in about 6ft using tubes slow.

I beilieve so. Only samll mouth become catch and release in Sep. because they group up for winter spots and become very prone to harvest.

don't worry guys thoose fish are still swimming. (Well I hope) Caught, quik photo and released. I had a guy tell me that about big bass. I told him " he would be farther ahead eating a sheephead." At least he would have white meat. The only way I would keep a bass for the is if I was sure it would die if released. Due to a very deep hookset.

I have been so slugged down with chores and car maintanance that my boat hasn't seen water since Millacs almos 2 months ago! I told her that fishing is a priority, boy did that work! Maybe I can go play one more time before she freezes over. Anybody know a good flowerist in the area? smile

Well the last few days have been beautiful for this time of year and I took advantage of them to get on the water. I hit Buffalo and chased the crappies around with some nice success. I found the fish scattered in 17' to 20' of water, loosely schooled and kept enough for dinner on friday, then took two friends out on saturday and we all limited out, sorting out nice keeper size fish. We caught a couple in the 12" range mixed in with fish that averaged about 8"-9". Action was good all day and we were off of the water by 4:00 both days.

Was on Clearwater on Saturday with limited success. Post-turnover had me stumped. Couldn't find any walleyes unless they were the ones that got off. Fished from 4-48ft caught northerns from 4-36ft. No bass which was suprising. Fished the spots we were getting them all of September with only one lost fished. It was a great day to be out but the fishing could have been better. Maybe they didn't like the rainbows on the jigs or the shiners on the rigs. Wish I had the chubs I had been getting.

coolIt sure felt good to get out on the ice this past couple of days , a couple of good buddies , my boy and of course WALLEYES . The comroderie was awsome and so was the fishing , to witness those eyes being pulled from the depths under 5" of clear ice is truley a sight to behold !!!!

Jim,

Did good on Beebe late ice but spent most of my time in Red Wing chasing Saugers. Shared the water with your cousin a couple of times. Nice guy. (Both of you!)

Doug, you been fishing Red Wing lately? Have you tried any ice fishing yet? I was on buffalo last night for about45 minutes but only got 3 crappies. 8-9" fish will go well with the fish caught sunday.

Jim,

I will be out on Beebe Saturday evening. Got a couple of early ice spots that I did really well in last year around dusk. Let me know if you can make it.

There was still a small pocket of open water on buffalo yesterday morning about 300 yds from the north shore.

This is the first year for the tractor, but I've been out on buffalo quite a bit last year with the ottersled. We'll see how it works with the tractor. I just tried it out in the backyard and it worked great in the little bit of snow we got so far.
