Windy City Walleye Hunter

Recommended Posts

My fearless prediction:

Colts 27 Bears 19. Colts cover and the game won't be as close as the score indicates.

Thanks Musky Crazy.

Hazard,

I could go along with your name choice but you need a little work on the spelling. Try Payton instead of Peyton and I am sure you will seal the deal! Then your child's nickname could be "Sweetness". Pretty big shoes to fill.

Windy-

That's not too bad of an idea...although I am not sure if the kid would love me or hate me with a nickname like Sweetness. Not all the other kids on the playground would understand the historical context.

Well Windy I hate making prrdictions but here it goes

Bears- 27

Indy- 17

Bear's defense will be all over Manning making him throw a few picks like he did against KC. Nobody is giving the Bear's a chance and that's what scare's me..

The key to this game will take place in the trenches. We (The Bears) get early pressure, and lots of it on Manning, and can keep pressure off of Rex, you'll see the outcome ...

BEARS ... 30 (3 FG, 3 TD)

INDY ... 24 (1 FG, 3 TD)

My final prediction is that this game will be closer than I expected, only because of the footing on a wet field... Colts still win.. the Bears horseshoe fell out at the Miami airport. shocked.gif

Colts 29-20....and the Over! I would disagree a wet field would help the Bears it actually favors skilled receivers "colts".

And it will be the colts defense picking off a terrible Grossman pass and housing it for 6.

I called that one. Heck of a throw Rex. We all knew you had it in ya.

I dont think you'll see the bears with a long TD pass. Its the thing the colts are the best at defending, the long pass play.

C'mon Rex i told you that the colts defend the long ball, dont try that crap. It was another nice try though Rex. Rex=colts MVP

I think rex would look good in a vikes uni, that way the queens would get more scoring, all be it for the wrong team.

It was a worthy arguement, it just didn't work out that way bud, it was Addai out of the backfield on dump passes all night... I want to say that I mentioned Addai having a big day running on the Bears and I was close.. it was the two headed monster of Addai & Rhodes. smirk.gif The final score wasn't even close to what it should have been, the Colts totally outplayed and outcoached the Bears... fun to watch!! grin.gif

No offense from Da bears makes a very tired defense for Da Bears! I don't think the Bears offense worked up a sweat, other than trying to chase down the interceptions that the Vikings future quarterback "Grossman" threw!

WHOOOOOOOOOOSsssssssshhhhhhhhhhhh that is the sucking sound Chicago will be making when the air is let out of their season as Indy eats clock and scores points...

[ I hope]

Indy 31 Chi 17 I have increased the margin of victory!!

I was only 2 points off, better clean my crystall ball off. shocked.gifsmirk.gifgrin.gif

I was also only two points off my friend AND I clearly stated they would RUN RUN RUN their way to victory and the Colts amassed 191 yards rushing against the Bears, it was the most all season!! Maybe I'll borrow you my crystal ball when money's on the line. In all honesty, the Colts coulda shoulda woulda won by 23 points. Ohhh Windy, Commanche, MnWild where are you??? You guys feel like you got nailed on the river with a gut shot draw? shocked.gif

I just remember a few times when opponents ran all over the Bears... ie.. Frank Gore, Ronnie Brown, Tiki Barber, Shawn Alexander, Ahman Green/Morency combo etc. The Bears also won like four games by three points or less and in my eyes are a far less impressive team than the Colts, Patriots, Chargers or Ravens... Therefore I "think" the Colts will "try" and pound away at the Bears and burn em' with that play action when the Bears creep up to stop the run.

I guess the play action may have been on the Reggie Wayne bomb, I don't remember.

Actually I was the closest to picking the score and had the Colts score picked correctly also I knew the field would not favor the Bears. grin.gif 29-20

Must be that new math, I correctly picked the Bears (17) and was two points over on Indy. You correctly picked Indy but were 3 points off on Da Bears so how does that make you closer then me and Buzzsaw? [ now we are reduced to debating scores, going to be a long winter]

Right meaning I had a chance with a simple field goal to get the score exactly correct where as you had or no chance to correctly pick the score since there is no -2 play in the NFL.

So in other words I was light years closer than you to getting it exactly right probably 100-1 or more favorite...grin.gif

On the south end...   This year's MN Fishing Opener weekend was not only great weather wise, the walleyes and saugers were caught in good numbers.  A main fish gut hauler working with a number of resorts commented it was one of the most productive opening weekends he has seen based on the amount of fish guts collected after the weekend. The goto presentation was a jig and frozen emerald shiner.  Emerald shiners are a staple in LOW and walleyes love them.  Other minnows worked also, but emerald shiners are a favorite of anglers for good reason.   Four Mile Bay held good walleyes in 12 - 18'.  Not a surprise as the walleye bite on the river during the spring season was good and as of late, sturgeon anglers have been reporting catching walleyes on sturgeon rigs.   The Lighthouse Gap area, Morris Point Gap and just in front of Pine Island held nice fish in 12 - 15'.  Across the south shore, 18 - 22' was holding good numbers as well.  As you can see, there are lots of fish around.     A quarter ounce jig in gold, glow white, pink, orange, chartreuse, or a combo of these colors tipped with a minnow worked well.   As a reminder, the limit of walleyes and saugers is a combined limit of six fish, up to four of the six can be walleyes.  All walleyes between 19.5 - 28.0 inches must be released.  One fish over 28.0 inches can be kept.  The possession limit in MN is one daily limit of fish. On the Rainy River...  Some nice walleyes were caught on the river this weekend, although most anglers hit the lake.  10 - 15' of water was the norm.     Sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River has been excellent.  The catch and release season continues through May 15th and then closes until the keep season starts up again July 1st. Up at the NW Angle...  Some nice walleyes were caught in 18 - 25 feet of water, a little deeper than anticipated.  Points were good as were areas with structure.  The morning and evening bite was best.       As water continues to warm, go to spots for walleyes will be neck down areas, shoreline breaks, points and bays.     The goto presentation was a jig and minnow.

I found this dock wheel floating in Black Bay. If it's yours or you know whom it belongs to, go and grab it.

Most years for opener I drive up on Thursday. This year it was Friday afternoon so I figured bait would be tight. The only place that I stopped was L&M in Virginia. They said that they sold out of rainbows by 11am. I got crappie minnows and never needed the rainbows. All my walleye were caught dragging raps. The crappie minnows....well, you know what they caught.

Did you have any luck?     I got a bird but didn’t really do much for pics worth showing.

It depends on a lot of factors, I suppose.   I hung on to my last gas auger for a few years after getting into electric but I never used it so I finally sold it.  Haven’t missed it one bit.  You bet it was reliable though.  Still started on the second pull for the new owner.   After trying several options in the electric world, I’m currently settled on a Strikemaster 40V with Liteflight bits.  With 2 fully charged batteries, I fish all day in Canada, cutting 10 inch holes.     What I’ll agree with is, if you search by drilling and flasher sonar, you will probably be more comfortable with the run time of a gas auger.  When you start incorporating GPS mapping, forward facing sonar, and saved waypoints, you don’t need to Swiss cheese every spot you fish.  I can still run through both batteries when the fishing isn’t great but I never feel like I have to count my holes.  It’s more like: Did I need the second battery before the middle part of our fishing hours?  If I still can’t catch fish after running out 2 batteries, it doesn’t matter cuz the fish just ain’t biting.   That’s fishing on the dark side! 😉
