Really suprised me to see Silva win the game today. We all must have been wearing our lucky underwear today.

Someone mail windy a broom.

I'm not surprised Silva won. He's had a couple good starts lately some bad blush.gif. Buerhle has been absolutely awful in July. I'm surprised we only got 7 off of him. grin.gif

It will be another fun series this weekend!

well I hate to rain on the parade folks but you know windy and commanche are gonna play the world series trump card.....

but I dont care sox got rocked at home!

Speaking of brooms, I cant wait to see Ozzies comments now, maybe we should send him an axe after he loses his job for running his mouth after his team got lit up.

We still have a long way to go yet, but its starting to get interesting and man has this team been fun to watch.

I've never seen a team go from being as bad as they were to this hot all within one season. It's unbelievable, both the bad stretch & the good stretch have been so long. The pitching & the 3-4-5 hitters are the difference.

I just wonder how GREAT the WSox starters would be if they DIDN'T have AJ taking such good control of them????? Huh, Windy, huh?

Bringing up last years success will only go so far. Its a new year and the only world series that matters now is the next one, not the last one.

Yep, I think we should make it official, every time they bring up the world series, we bring up that we have won 2 since 1987, which is 1 more than them. Before that really doesnt count as many on this board were too young to care.

Hats off to Morneau, man where would we be without him? As much as I like Mauer, Morneau is the MVP of this team methinks.

Great series. That was a total domination.

The world champs looked like the Sox of old. No pitching, poor fielding, guys sluffing off and waiting around for a 3 run homer.

I've kinda got a feeling this team is on a mission. There has never been a stretch in Twins history that they have played this good. Great time in Twins Territory.

On the other side of this, I'll bet that by the end of tomorrow the Sox are making some kind of blockbuster trade. They aren't going to sit back while the surging Twins and surprising Tigers bury them in the standings.

Watch the Twins make a move or two as well, maybe something with the Reds for Pitching????

"Watch the Twins make a move or two as well, maybe something with the Reds for Pitching????"

Now that got my attention there Buzz. The Reds don't have a #5 starter. What do you guys want for Liriano? He looks like he's got some potential. grin.gif

Seriously though, what do you have in mind? We are short at least one starter and don't have any relief pitching that you want, and I know you aren't having a fantasy that Harang or Arroyo are available are you?

And congrats on your W-Sox series! That was impressive.

Got this off a board on espn. Listen to this guy! I think its Windy.

Come on guys, we can't go around saying that the Twins have won this series. Clearly the umpiring has been so bad that any unbiased observer would agree that the Sox should have won this series.

The Twins have proven nothing except that they can win when given 33 outs instead of 27. The Sox are still the best pitching and hitting team in baseball!

Plus, who won the World Series last year? That's right, it was the Sox.

Let's do a little roster comparison here:

C Pierzynski = Mauer -- When Mauer stops getting so lucky with his hits it will even out. Pierzynski calls a better game too. Mauer's batting average is a FLUKE!

1B Konerko > Morneau -- Morneau is a FLUKE!

2B Iguchi > Castillo -- Castillo has no power and has lost a step or three. He's lucky to bat .250, and his current average is a FLUKE!

3B Crede > Punto -- He's got defense and can hit .300 with power. Punto is a FLUKE!!!!

SS Uribe > Bartlett -- His defense and power make him one of the elite SS in the game. Bartlett is a FLUKE!

LF Pods > Kubel -- great leadoff guy. Kubel is playing way over his head and is a FLUKE!

CF Anderson > Hunter -- Hunter is a walking GIDP. Anderson is hitting .333 in his last 30 games.

RF Dye >>> Cuddyer -- Dye plays the best defense of any RF plus he is on pace for 50 bombs. Cuddyer is a failed prospect playing over his head and is a FLUKE!

DH Thome >>>>> White -- White will soon regress to batting around .150, his current streak is a FLUKE!

Rotation

Buehrle = Santana -- Santana pads his statline with meaningless starts. Buehrle is CLUTCH!

Contreras > Liriano -- Contreras is a proven commodity. The league will soon catch up to liriano and prove he is a FLUKE!

Garcia > Radke -- Radke's early-season struggles are much more telling than his current FLUKY success.

Garland >>> Silva -- My grandma >>>> Silva.

Vazquez >>>> Baker -- Baker's good run last year was a FLUKE!!!

Bullpen:

Jenks > Nathan -- He's proven in a world series and can throw 100.

Macdougal > Rincon -- Hawk+DJ say Macdogal has the best movement of any picher on his fastball.

Cotts > Crain -- Crain sucks...his year last year was a FLUKE!

Thornton > Reyes -- Reyes sucks...his year is a FLUKE! Thornton can hit 100 on the radar gun.

Politte > Neshek -- Politte is clutch and will pitch through his rough patch. Neshek is a FLUKE!

Every single Sox player is superior to his Twins counterpart. The Twins are pretenders not contenders, and their success is a FLUKE!!!

Buehrle will shut the Twins down tomorrow! Stick a fork in Silva!

Go Sox!!!!

Thats a funny post, it goes to show you that Crystal Meth is kickin' in Chi town... not that the whole world didn't already know that.

Spinner, ESPN radio was talking about the Twins and Reds and the Twins wanting a pitcher... didn't get all the names.

If the Sox were smart they'd forget about trying to get Soriano and concentrate their efforts on trying to get Zito from the A's. Either that or put McCarthy in the starting rotation.

Buzz

Guess we'll have to wait and see. Reds are bringing up a pitcher from AAA to pitch on Saturday. Pitchers not regarded as quite ready for prime-time. Trust me, we only have extra hitters. No extra pitchers that AL hitters wouldn't destroy.

Mark Buerluerhulee's career is over.

Then I guess 34 of the last 42 were "FLUKES" also

I read all the posts on ESPN about what this guy posted.

He made comments like Santana and Liriano only look good becuase they pad their stats against weak teams like KC. He also said Contreras (sp?) is a real CY young candidate more so then Liriano or Santana.

I believe he said that once a Sox pitcher gets a lead they take it easy and don't pad their stats by jumping on a team when their down.

I think the slump the Sox are in must have pushed this poor guy over the edge. I hope he gets some help to end his delusions. Its sad to see a guy like that, he's in a bad place right now.

This is my favorite! Must be a real fan. Since Politte was released prior to this series. tongue.gif

Running on empty at dark on a sled is definitely stress-inducing. Been there, done that. Glad that you made it out.

Eagle swoops are always a hoot to watch.   The snow is mostly gone on the lake. Ice melt made things pretty wet but the ice is obviously still very thick.

On the South Shore...  The big question:  "How is the ice up at Lake of the Woods?"  That is for each individual resort or outfitter who operates an ice road or trail to answer, but overall, ice conditions are still very good and ice fishing is going strong!  As always, stay on the marked ice  roads and trails for safety.     Being up on the Canadian border, the colder temps Lake of the Woods enjoys vs much of the region combined with three feet of ice makes a big difference.  Fish houses are allowed unattended overnight through March 31st and it sounds like a good number of resorts will be fishing through the month, but ultimately, Mother Nature will determine that.     Regarding the fishing, overall, very good reports for walleyes, saugers and perch.  There is a strong population of smaller walleyes and saugers in the lake which bodes well for the future, but in the meantime, anglers are sorting through them to catch their keepers.   The one-two punch of jigging and deadsticking remains the most effective technique. Jigging spoons with rattles tipped with a minnow head or a lipless crankbait on the jigging line is the ticket.  On the deadstick, a live minnow a foot off the bottom on a plain red hook or medium sized ice fishing jig is catching a lot of fish.   Using electronics is super helpful.  Many nice walleyes are swimming through suspended, keep an eye out.   Anglers tip-up fishing for pike have had a great week and it should continue to get even better.  Suckers, frozen alewife and smelt are working well. Putting baits 1 foot under the ice or right off bottom seems to be effective this week.  Most common depths, 9 - 15 feet. On the Rainy River...  The Rain River is still frozen with no signs of open water yet.  Every year can be different, but on average, the Rainy River will start opening up around the third week of March.  The first boat ramp suitable for larger boats is Nelson Park in Birchdale.  We will keep you posted.    As of March 1st, walleyes and saugers are catch and release only on Four Mile Bay and the Rainy River.     Make plans now for sturgeon season.  Once the open water appears, the fish are super active.  Here are the seasons...   -Catch and Release Season: May 8th – May 15th and October 1 – April 23rd. -Harvest Season: April 24th – May 7th and July 1 – September 30. -Closed Season: May 16th – June 30th.  Up at the Northwest Angle...  Fishing remains very good up at the Angle and the ice is in good shape as well.  As on the south end, resorts monitor ice roads and trails daily and there are still some great ice fishing opportunities available.     Walleyes, saugers, perch, and pike are showing up in good numbers.  Those targeting crappies are reporting good numbers of fish.  Work through a NW Angle resort for ice fishing opportunities on this part of the lake. The walleye and sauger season is open through April 14th. Pike fishing never closes, and perch and crappie remain open year-round as well. Whether booking a day house rental, sleeper fish house, or resort stay, there is still plenty of time to plan a late-season ice fishing adventure.

Looks like a shallow lake with some potential.  Keepable crappies, decent bluegills and some nice perch according to the last survey (2015). Susan Lake   With a max depth of 10 feet, I’d want to know a little more about it before I’d start drilling holes.  Could be a nice little adventure though.

Jeff and I fished Saturday and half day Sunday, targeting whitefish, ciscos, crappies, and perch.  The bite was tough for us.  We ecked out a few, but nothing special.  Highlight of the weekend was the sled ride into Wolf Lake and having an eagle swoop in and eat a rock bass we had on the ice.  All in all, not a bad way to waste time.
