I found this out on the web and thought it was interesting. Latest rumors floating around.

Put Alfonso Soriano on the Twins' roster and their chances to win the wild card and perhaps the AL Central not only rise, but so do their chances of winning the World Series. Pohlad is one of our country's richest men, with Forbes listing his worth at $2.8 billion. Amazingly, his team receives a revenue-sharing check courtesy of big-market clubs including the Mets and Yankees. Nevertheless, the Twins have a bottom-third payroll nearly identical to that of the Nationals, who are looking to move Soriano. It is time for Pohlad to honor the tremendous work done by Terry Ryan by encouraging his GM to get Soriano, even if it means scrounging up the loose million or two caught in his sofa. One talent evaluator said the Twins have about 15-18 appetizing prospects. ... One admiring GM added, "They are prospect heavy and 95 percent of that is on the pitching side, which trades very well." A short list of those arms includes Scott Baker and Pat Neshek, who are in the majors, and Matt Garza, Glen Perkins, Kevin Slowey and Boof Bonser, all of whom are at Double-A or Triple-A - in other words, the kind of near ready arms Washington wants.

Twins will win today also!!!! Let's hope anyway!!! Days are so much better at work when the Twins can put smiles on all of our faces the night before. Especially against the White Sox. Bring on the Tiger your next!!!!!!!!

You must be listening to KFAN as well, I just updated the Soriano thread with the same piece from Fox. I say the only one untouchable on the list is Garza. Other than him, I say put a package together and make a deal.

Down to Earth

No KFAN up here. One of the only things I miss about the Metro. Well being close to the Dome and the Target center on game day are right up there too. Mr. Pohlad could be really nice to all of his Twins fan group and go through with the Alfonso Soriano trade and also complete our pitching staff with Berry Zito. Wow what a dream it would be. They are playing so awesome right now I know in the Owners mind he is thinking why change it if it is working but it sure would make it better. Heck instead of winning 33 of the last 41 games let try and make it even better in the next 62 games and forget about the Wild card lets start thinking regaining the division title and more. Hey Haa!!!! GO TWINKIES

colonel42,

You can listen to kfan online. They are on a bunch of stations in the north country...

Its not so much about the money. Its more about giving up the prospects. Hopefully something will happen. Soriano would make a huge impact on our line up. I'm all for it.

That is so true, not only are prospects promising, but they are cheap. Just remember the Twins were in the soriano mix last year, but wouldn't give up a AAA guy named liriano. hmmm.

34" I realize I can get KFAN on line but don't get the oppertunity to sit and listen beside then I wouldn't have time to play here on this great forum. I want the Twin to have a second inning like the Angels had today BIG'OL 10 spot. Sit down Buehrle and ice your sore wing maybe put a sock on it or in it your choice. GO TWIN!!!!!

I doubt the best business model "Twins" in baseball is going to change anytime soon....

Soriano and Lee are certainly not walking through the Twins locker room anytime soon........wishful thinking.

I'd be happy with a marginal pitcher signing.

Pohlad is the only thing I dispise about this club. Not saying we need a Stienbriener, but if you look at the last 4 years, we are always 1 player away from a possible WS.

He always seems to be a player or two away is correct. Now that he is getting a new stadium I thought that just maybe he would shell out a little extra and pull in a bigger name or two.I guess its the same ol thing, what do you have for me and no Im not going to spend any more.Just maybe his pockets are empty. frown.gif

Ol' Smilin' Carl is still smiling.

You can't just sign people in the middle of the season. At least not ones that are any good.

To get any big name or big money guys right now, we would have had to trade for them.

This offseason is when we will see if old Carl will open up the wallet a little bit. He didn't know we were getting a stadium until just a few months ago.

Running on empty at dark on a sled is definitely stress-inducing. Been there, done that. Glad that you made it out.

Eagle swoops are always a hoot to watch.   The snow is mostly gone on the lake. Ice melt made things pretty wet but the ice is obviously still very thick.

On the South Shore...  The big question:  "How is the ice up at Lake of the Woods?"  That is for each individual resort or outfitter who operates an ice road or trail to answer, but overall, ice conditions are still very good and ice fishing is going strong!  As always, stay on the marked ice  roads and trails for safety.     Being up on the Canadian border, the colder temps Lake of the Woods enjoys vs much of the region combined with three feet of ice makes a big difference.  Fish houses are allowed unattended overnight through March 31st and it sounds like a good number of resorts will be fishing through the month, but ultimately, Mother Nature will determine that.     Regarding the fishing, overall, very good reports for walleyes, saugers and perch.  There is a strong population of smaller walleyes and saugers in the lake which bodes well for the future, but in the meantime, anglers are sorting through them to catch their keepers.   The one-two punch of jigging and deadsticking remains the most effective technique. Jigging spoons with rattles tipped with a minnow head or a lipless crankbait on the jigging line is the ticket.  On the deadstick, a live minnow a foot off the bottom on a plain red hook or medium sized ice fishing jig is catching a lot of fish.   Using electronics is super helpful.  Many nice walleyes are swimming through suspended, keep an eye out.   Anglers tip-up fishing for pike have had a great week and it should continue to get even better.  Suckers, frozen alewife and smelt are working well. Putting baits 1 foot under the ice or right off bottom seems to be effective this week.  Most common depths, 9 - 15 feet. On the Rainy River...  The Rain River is still frozen with no signs of open water yet.  Every year can be different, but on average, the Rainy River will start opening up around the third week of March.  The first boat ramp suitable for larger boats is Nelson Park in Birchdale.  We will keep you posted.    As of March 1st, walleyes and saugers are catch and release only on Four Mile Bay and the Rainy River.     Make plans now for sturgeon season.  Once the open water appears, the fish are super active.  Here are the seasons...   -Catch and Release Season: May 8th – May 15th and October 1 – April 23rd. -Harvest Season: April 24th – May 7th and July 1 – September 30. -Closed Season: May 16th – June 30th.  Up at the Northwest Angle...  Fishing remains very good up at the Angle and the ice is in good shape as well.  As on the south end, resorts monitor ice roads and trails daily and there are still some great ice fishing opportunities available.     Walleyes, saugers, perch, and pike are showing up in good numbers.  Those targeting crappies are reporting good numbers of fish.  Work through a NW Angle resort for ice fishing opportunities on this part of the lake. The walleye and sauger season is open through April 14th. Pike fishing never closes, and perch and crappie remain open year-round as well. Whether booking a day house rental, sleeper fish house, or resort stay, there is still plenty of time to plan a late-season ice fishing adventure.

Looks like a shallow lake with some potential.  Keepable crappies, decent bluegills and some nice perch according to the last survey (2015). Susan Lake   With a max depth of 10 feet, I’d want to know a little more about it before I’d start drilling holes.  Could be a nice little adventure though.

Jeff and I fished Saturday and half day Sunday, targeting whitefish, ciscos, crappies, and perch.  The bite was tough for us.  We ecked out a few, but nothing special.  Highlight of the weekend was the sled ride into Wolf Lake and having an eagle swoop in and eat a rock bass we had on the ice.  All in all, not a bad way to waste time.
