Does anybody know if you can get from stella to washington through the colvert? I hear it was too low for boats to get throu, any info will help. thanks confused.gif

I had a bass tourney on Washington Stella a few weekends ago and several boats were able to make it throught the culvert. Some guys said going to Stella was easy but coming back was tough. Some guys said the opposite.

I would advise caution because it is a long walk back to either access. The water can't be more than a foot and a half deep.

Hi Dan Thanks for the info. sounds like you can make it thru, with causion. How you do in tourny? Im going up next week. try to find some smallies. Thanks again laugh.gif

We placed 3rd in the tourney. Our big fish was a smallie which weighed 3.96 caught on a spinnerbait (Sluggomaster caught it). Good luck with the trip, let us know how you do. Washington is a fun lake.

Bassman, you should probably asked the guys the won first, they seem to know the lake better than I do LOL smile.gif

I would tell you to look for milfoil in deeper water (8-10 FOW) Jigs and plastics seem to work for me.

Unfortunatly I do not get to fish the lake very often. I usually prefish the lake twice for the one tourney I fish there every year. I have only fished the lake for two years and am still learning the lake.

I have heard that the docks can be productive if the wind is blowing into them but I have never done well dock fishing on Washington. I would fish the thicker weed edges near deeper water, look for ambush points in the milfoil.

I have a few questions about these two lakes.

1: How is the access into Stella?

2: How is stella compared to Washington for crappies?

3: Would it be better to go try Waconia for Walleyes? grin.gif

Sorry had to throw that last one in as I have never caught a walleye bigger than 5" and I would really like to figure them out.

Access on the north side of both lakes are very nice. Deep enough for any boat and plenty of parking. The deep enough part may be stretching it right now because of the lack of rain, but they are both usually very nice.

As far as Waconia or Washington this year for walleyes, I would skip Washington this year becuase it has been dead for walleyes all season long. I haven't heard a hot bite on Waconia, but it cannot get much worse than Washington this year. I talked to the DNR officer and he said that Washington has had its worst year class this year so it could be bad for a few years to come.

Hope this helps. I usually fish walleyes on Washington alot because I have a cabin there, but this year has been spent mostly in the shade. Good luck.

Thanks a ton! Shallow access aren't a problem, I have a little 14' aluminum rig with a 10 horse on it. If any of you are out and about this weekend and you the green POS with a camo'd up motor, feel free to smile , wave and laugh...

I think he meant the public accesses are on the south side of the lake.

There is a private access on the north side of Washington also.
