Tight Lipped Crappies?!

Recommended Posts

I have been fishing Clearwater for some slab crappies. We keep graphing fish but bite have been very few. Euro's waxies minnows (head and whole) are usually solid presentations but it seems that the fish are schooling up but not hungry!! Any reports from the lake are always appreciated!! Frustrated but still fishin!!

My two brothers and I fished Clearwater on Sunday. We fished over 45-50 ft of water and marked lots of fish. It was a tough bite, but we did end up with about 15 crappies for our effort. The bigger fish seemed to bite when we got there about 12:00. By 2:00 we caught only amaller fish. We had to work mostly the bottom of the school. The fish ranged from 6 inches to 11.25, so a lot of year classes were represented. All in all, it could have been better, but could have been worse as well. FYI, we were using waxies and eurolarvae on smallish type jigs.

We have also been fishing clearwater 40-50 feet of water and we have had descent results. We couldn't get a crop to bite for a couple of hours. We got out at 10:00 a.m. The fish when they were biting seemed very lathargic. We didn't use bobbers, we just watched out rod tip for the strike. Sounds pretty boring but it produced fish caught over 20 and kept a few shy of our limit with three of us fishing. I can't complain!!
