E. Coli in St. Cloud water

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I know this isn't fishing news but I heard tonight that St. Cloud's water supply is contaminated with E. Coli. I really don't know anything else on the matter. My brother works at Coborns and said that they're running out of bottled water there because of it.

I read about it right after I took 2 big gulps of water from the fountain at the YMCA tonight!

I sure hope I don't get sick!!

How could something like this happen?!?

Capt,

All you have to do is take a look in the Sauk River watershed..... how many feed lots are there in Stearns County alone that were built prior to more stringent standards not to mention upstream in the Mississippi River watershed. How many places are cattle allowed access to the Miss or the Sauk upstream of the St. Clouds intake... The bacteria is there from human and animal waste... Mostly animal in this case.

Unfortunately, until we make some changes big time with the whole concept of stormwater, we may see this more often... confused.gif

The Water plant is located right next to the hospital an is designed for taking water from the mississippi river an making it drinkable...my understanding is it isnt the waterplant

I would bet the E.Coli contamination was taken from places out in the distribution system....waterlines from water towers to your home etc.

they will now take a ton of samples from all over the place under strict supervision of the department of health..the source will be located an taken care of immediately

this warning is a safety measure device to insure your safety...an good for them

give a day or two an see what they come up with...they haveta tell us one way or another

boil all your consumable water for 1 min before using
