Okay, this is dumb, but I've always wondered this and never known:

In reference to outboards, what does ELPTO mean?

Electric (start) Long shaft Power Trim Outboard.....I hope I guessed it right.... blush.gif

Anyway there is nothing dumb in this question, I bet many people asked same question.

Darn....I knew all the others, I just guessed the O....

Have you even seen a ESPTO ? I wonder if they use S for the short shaft.

Many people thinks 20" (long shaft) is actually the short shaft. They don't know of XL and XXL (25" and 30")

Good work, guys. There is a code T for tiller models as well. Not sure where it fits in the equation.
