a lot of leaves have settled in the slower moving current... still occasional leaves on top - especially in big eddies

Any of you guys ever have a problem with oak leaves rotting your mono line? A few years ago, I was fishing in some very heavy surface mats of oak leaves. Was using new Spiderwire mono. Worked fine for an hour. Then I spent 20 minutes motoring upstream. First fish on, snap! All the mono that had been in the 'oak leaved' water was rotten. The rest on the spool was fine, like brand new. Don't know if all mono would do this, cuz I haven't fished in such heavy leaf mats since. But I don't use Spiderwire mono anymore.
