Trail camera pics. Lets start seeing them.

WalleyeWeasel, I do get some "empty" pictures, probably about a third of them. I think maybe the deer has moved out of the camera focus already on some, I have also gotten just some rear ends of deer as they move out. Could also be other critters? I am pretty new to this but I think a key part of it is getting the proper angle on the trail, more of a linear (along the trail) photo vs. shooting across a trail. That is the great thing about digital, you can just delete the garbage pictures.

I get lots of butt pics and empty pics on my digitals.

It all comes down to the trigger time.

Basically the camera sensing motion and getting the camera powered up and ready to snap a pic. My 35mm cameras have almost no delay. A deer comes in front and it takes the pic.

Its the inherint problems with digitals in most cases.

Check this out. A struttin turkey!

is the flash on the unit or the camera?? With the moultrie do you use your own camera or does it come with one ?? The price is right for me due to the fact that i'm worried about thieves where i would like to put it (public land)

Just a heads up !! i was driving up north for birds last year in the middle of no-where my radar detector went off thought why ?? went down the logging road on the way back out it went off again........thought maybe theres a trail camera somewhere close by sure enough there was. My buddy walked in front of it and gave it a moon shot !! Wonder what that guy thought grin.gif

On the moultrie, the flash is mounted on the actual unit. The camera is built into it. So, yes, for 100 bucks you get it all except the 6V battery and extra memory if you want (eventually you will want). It has 16mb of internal memory. Actually, you will need a printer USB cable to connect to the camera and computer to download the internal pics to the computer. A video cable comes with it to connect to the TV to view. Overall so far for me, nice camera for the money..

We use the Cudde Back's and it is very rare to get a picture with a butt or nothing at all in it. I guess it just depends on the cameras trigger speed.

We have both models of the cudde backs. They are digitals, and the batteries last extremely well. They cost a little more, but in my opinion are worth the money.

This was from the first part of September, date is right but the time is wrong. the pair of eyes in the

background is another buck that seems about the same size if you zoom in and do some editing.

I've seen them nursing into November.

Last year the big doe I shot was full of milk. It was pouring out everywhere. Didn't see her nursing but probably was with that much milk in her.

nice pics biglake---nice buck-----it only looks about 3 1/2yrs old----a sure shooter

I had a runin with the big 8 I got a pic of and it looks bigger in person. I had him at 17 yards and he didn't offer a good shot. I watched him for35 minutes slowly working his way to me----making 6 scrapes on the way. After the hunt my bro and I were BSing for 30 min. and as I was leaving my lights shined through the field and there he was only 30 yards from where we were standing next to our trucks. I guess he felt safe in the dark.

I got these photos in Aug but just got around to posting them now. My camera is set with a 45 second interval between photos.

This buck stood there for 22 minutes and got his photo taken 23 times before he finally stepped out into the food plot.

Other than turning his head he never moved until the last photo.

Bucks are no differant than we were back in our high school/college days. Hang with the boys right up until its time to chase the skirts and then don't have anything to do with each other... grin.gif

biglake,

What you meant is: If I don't get him this year, he'll still be a shooter "again" next year...

Nice deer!

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?
    • LakeofthewoodsMN
On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
