Thanks for the tips on "where to" fish below the dam. I've been so busy fishing around the area that it sounds like I'm missing out on some pretty good water.....I guess it gives you more space to lay out that 9ft pole

lol swingin that 9' does demand alil room...I use a long rod for number of reasons...first off i only fish with 6 lb test..generally trilene xl

i like lindy rigs or as the old timers called them wolf river rigs...same principle but different beasts all together

with a long pole an such small line I get farther casts...much farther an the fact that its such light line is ok becuase the backbone my longer pole provides takes the pressure off my line to stretch...i dont get alot of fish shaking the lure off...since my limber pole always provides tension on the hooked fish

jig fishin it does wonders for as well...easier to hook an watch my jig..greater sensitivity

using 6lb test also runs my crankbaits deeper than if i was using 8-12...that few feet difference makes a huge difference

becuase I fish trout in crosby-ironton in the mine pits..trout on lake superior an other varieties my rod an reel are always set up to go whereever

best practice for landing them hawgers of a lifetime is snagging or fishin carp...now theres a fight an often leave my arm feeling like rubber..cold springs dam is a great place for those...great way to learn to handle yer rod an its capabilities..caught a 13lb cat there in past years..fishin pressure can be frustrating
