Calling G-man

Recommended Posts

G-man, I have not been on the site that much recently. I was out by Garvais tonight and there was one guy fishing the North end. Let me know if you have free night after work this week. Perhaps we could target the walleyes on the North or perhaps some crappies out of the south side by the fishing peir. I did speak to the person who ventured on Garvias. He stated the ice was 4" and that he saw a nice musky, small school of crappie and few other fish throught he crystal clear ice....Just let me know. I also would not mind trying this small lake in the area called Lost lake or Round lake which is just off of Phalen. There were two portables on Round today but I have no idea of what the fish population is in this pond either.

Other early ice spots on my list are:

Sara, Minnewashta, Long, Bald Eagle, White Bear, the horeshoe chain, and one little gem a little North of little Falls that boast a great crappie and walleye population.

I'm back now that there is ice. Anxious to get out too. I'm even working in your neck of the woods this week. Monday night is a possibility for me. Call me on my cell and leave a message if that works for you. 612-868-1078. Thursday is the only other possibility until Wed the 29th.

G-man. I do not know that I can get out on Monday but Thursday I should be out of work by 3:00 and home and able to be on the water by 4:00. If you can get out on Monday I would suggest the Northside for the early walleye action or perhaps the drop just outside of the fishing pier on the South for perch and crappies. I would guess it to be a solid 5" with the recent cold spell. I have seen a few guys setting up there shacks on the North end. I would also like to try Medicine as well. I know you had some success on the crappies there is the past just need to the find the 10" ers and not the paper thin 6"ers. It also sounds like walleyes are starting to come around on Medicine due to the recent stocking. Long lake is another one in the area that might be worth a shot after work. Three days a week I am out of the office at 3:15 so I plan on hitting local ponds one or two nights a week when I can and the devoting Saturday's to trips to St. Cloud etc..If you do go Monday shoot me an e-mail. Maybe I can drive by the lake after work at about 6:00 and see how you are doing.
