Pike Lake

I was thinking of hitting pike lake for some early eyes. Haven't been out yet this year. Anyone fished it yet? Anyone know how the ice is?

My folks live on Pike Lake and from what they tell me it froze over a few weeks ago. There has been people skating by shore but no one has ventured out very far yet. I am sure that it is not ready for vehicle travel (atv etc), but may be close to having enough ice to walk on. I am going to be there Thursday and will punch a few holes and get back to you. Not sure on the eyes. I have fished Pike Lake for 25+ years and they still are elusive to me. When you get into them you can do real well, but sometimes they are hard to find. I have no doubt you can get a nice meal of perch for sure.

I would think that you would be alright to walk out on pike, i've been on a number of area lakes, and heard reports from many others, and it seems like they all have enough ice to walk on, and many are seeing wheeler and sled traffic. As far as the fishing goes, i can't be of much help, i've never fished pike. It looks like it would be kinda tough to locate fish in that big hole, but i have heard people say that its good fishing. Thanks for the info guys, I'll let you know how I do if I get out. It's a hard decision to make, ice fishing or one last chance with the bow before season closes.
