Which portable should I buy?

Recommended Posts

I'm torn between the Frabill XLT and the Quickflip II. I've only fished out of a Quickflip and am wondering if anyone has fished out of both and which they preferred.

Thanks

From my experience the Frabill is the better made of the 2. The canvas is better at holding in the heat and being black will absorb more heat. The tubs are basically equal design wise but the Frabill may have the edge in durability. A few people I know had issues with zippers and pole snaps on their Eskimos. I think the Frabil is just a bit heavier. If your going to pull with a Wheeler or sled I wouldnt recomend either. If thats the case look at the Polar Sports or Otters. Best tubs on the market and with Hyfax on them they will last many years. If your only going to pull every so often then these 2 would be fine. No matter what ya buy get the hyfax runners put on it.

I have had a clam for many years and just love it. Sets up easy and is durable. They make one called the 5600 which is bigger than the one I bought and it costs less. I don't know much about the fish trap or those ones that have the seats already in them and the cover flips over. They sound like they would be good if you want to be fairly mobile.

I have the trap and absolutely love it. My model is a few years old so it doesn't have the seats that move back and forth. The seats that come out are really nice and makes it easy to fish by yourself in it. The set up is incredibly easy and can be done in well under 30 sec, and taken down just as quickly. I know that I am sounding like a trap dealer but I absolutely love mine. Just my 2 cents take it for what it is worth (which is not a whole lot). Just pick which one you like best and catch some fish.

I could give you the thumbs up on the Frabill but I'll admit I'm partial since I'm on the product development and pro-staff. I read a thread the other day questioning the pin holes at the seams. This of course is due to the stitching. In all the years I have been beating these houses up I can say I have never had water come through these openings.

from my experience the Frabil's are very nice when it comes to fishing and setting up but not very nice when it comes to pulling.

I just bought a Otter Magnum Lodge last year and I am 100% happy with it and it is very easy to set up and also being 6'-2" I can stad up straight in it with plenty of room. I would'nt recomend it if you don't have a way to pull around because it weighs 80lbs empty and when yoy get all of your gear in it gets pretty heavy.
