Lakes near TRF

Im going to visit a friend from TRF over xmas break and wanted to know some of the lakes in the area and the distance from TRF. I want to fish crappies and/or walleyes so any hints for the lakes would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

You could fish the river in TRF. You wouldn't have to travel far for that.

You could fish Maple Lake south of TRF about a 1/2 hour by Mentor, MN. There is usually some pretty good fishing on Maple. I could point you in a couple good directions on Maple if you are looking to fish there.

If you are really looking for walleyes, take a trip to Lake of the Woods. You are already half way there from Moorhead.

I am planning on going to LOW later in the winter. I am going to be in TRF to watch the World Juniors and visit a good frined and wanted to fish to kill some time. Directions to a couple spots on Maple would be greatly appreciated.

There is Lake Bronson about 45 minutes north.

Been slow on perch this year but its good on Northern. Caught a 40" on it myself give me a call at 218-436-3567 and i'll hook you up with some tips and we could hit the ice.
