I drove by the north end of Big C the middle of last week and the lake looked like it did in July. There wasn't even ice along the edge yet--just waves lapping the shoreline.

the ice was really good acutally. we were on five inches which is more than enough for me to walk on. the entire lake was frozen over. of course we were in a smaller part that was sectioned off from the wind but even the bigger parts were frozen. boyer on the way there had only ice around the edges for 100 yards. didnt do very good with crappies but landed a 30" walleye in the mean time and lost a few others. one had potential to go 3-4 pounds we think. well be back there this week.

I heard Lizzy is a fun lake to fish. You can catch 'eyes and crappies in the same hole, just at different depths.

Anybody ever hit Lizzy? Is it as fun as people say it is?

we have found that with a lot of the lakes in the DL area which makes it fun and keeps the lines active. the cormorants, sallie, olaf, all have produced good walleyes and plenty of crappie for me out of the same holes. a vexilar is a must though. i will make sure to try lizzie.

I fished lizzie a few years ago but I dont remember the exact location. We fished a sunken island right out in the middle of the lake and caught a couple walleyes but nothing too special. I have heard good stories about it though

Gophish, are talken little or big olaf for eyes.

I know 2-3 years ago you could catch quite a few on little , and then the crappies were always out in Big Olaf, but I never have managed to find them, but only tryed a couple times.

Dano2,

I have never tried east olaf for eyes. The crappies in west I have pulled out have all been very small. I don't think any of them have gone over 11". I have caught a few walleyes but they have all been really nice. East olaf was excellent for walleyes two or three years ago because it was a stock pond but I think it has been basically fished out. If you head north less than a mile, there is a lake called Grove Lake where you can also catch crappies and largemouth but once again, the crappies are really small and you have to work through the bluegills.

I think grove has slowed abit too. ALOT more people know about it now, but a couple years ago, I used to fish from shore and catch pretty nice bass from shore, you'd get one about every other cast during the peak times.

I have heard there are some good sized gills in there too, but I have never caught them. I only tryed ice fishing it once, but didn't catch anything.

I fished grove three times last year. Caught 4 or 5 bass that went over 3 lbs, some small crappies and a couple bluegills. Went back there with waxies the second time and couldn't keep the bluegills off the line. The third time we got skunked.
