Monson lake?

Does any one know what the ice condidions are on monson lake. I had some good sucess in the past years and would like to fish it as soon as possible.

I thought monson was just a big mud puddle? You really catch anything nice?

Naw it's not that great. Usually decent # and size is average with bigger trown in for good measure.

I went by there on Thursday and the bay to the east was starting to freeze up but the main lake was wide open. It will be awhile yet. Its cold today but 40's are predicted for later this week.

I drove by monson lake on friday. There were a couple of portables on the SE end. The ice by the acess is where it all piled up after it was open. I havent had the time to get out but i hope to soon.

jigginjim, went by there Friday. There were a couple of portables out on the SW side, not too far out though, and a couple of portables that walked in onto the east bay. My stuff is all loaded up, I'm heading out there fishing tonight, I'll let you know tomorrow.

Made it out to Monson last night, fished the east bay. There was about 6 inches of ice, but the fish weren't biting, I didn't catch a thing, most of the other guys didn't either, did talk to one guy that had caught 2 small throwback walleyes. Was a nice night on the ice, not too windy and mild. Won't be able to say that for awhile@!!!
