is there any fishable ice on leech?

Recommended Posts

The weather was calling for some colder temps. Just wondering if there was any fishable ice on leech? Read that walker bay was froze over. Is there any activity on sand point yet? Got some time off,and the fishing bug. Thanks marble eye

As of last sunday walker bay looked almost completely open and with the temperature during this past week I dout it is completely frozen and there's no way its fishable. I was surprised at how much ice I saw on the south side near Whipholt. I could see open water a ways out but there was at least 150 out of ice, it didn't look to safe though. I'll be going by there in a few hours on my way to longville from fargo and I'll tell you what I see after the weekend. I'll be trying to fish a small lake under 60 acres around longville.

I would be shocked if Walker Bay was frozen. I would put more money on still being able to get a boat in than the bay being frozen over with even a skim layer of ice. I was on Walker Bay in my boat last Sunday (12/5). The very very south end (Shingobee?) had some ice on it. And the far east portion of the Agency Narrows had some ice. I talked to someone that drove by there just the other day and they said there was a fish house out on that far south portion of Walker. But by where they described the open water to be in comparison to where he was fishing, it doesn't sound like much, if any ice has been added to the lake since I was on open water 6 days ago.

I've also heard that some of the smaller bays on the main lake have walkable ice. I thinik you're going to be waiting a little while to hit Sand Point.

Walker Bay froze over last night/early this a.m. Fishable ice is who knows how far away as the forecast isn't for ice making for a while. Maybe there will be decent ice for the holidays. Anyway, here's to good ice and remember to limit your time/catch/kill on Walker bay deep structure.

Well I would think that leech is locked up by now. I was watching the weather in my computer and monday night it was -9 in longville with 0mph winds. Looking at the weather I think after next week there should be quite a bit of fishable areas on leech. I caught a few small northerns last weekend around longville, 4.5" of ice. How is the ice fishing on the south side of leech? I've never fished leech and I was thinking about giving it a try.

I was just wondering if anyone knows what the temps are supposed to be for this weekend? And yes leech has a skim of ice all over it now. If it's about 20 degrees during the day will it still make ice if the sun is up and bright??
