Jig-em, I am sure you have heard of this one, my brother-in-law says this is a good one early ice. Says they have found some nice eyes out there. Been by there anyone? Anyone know if there is any ice on it yet? Thanks in advance.

Jig-em. I'm about a mile & a half from pepin. Very near the intersection of 28 & 144. Maybe we'll hook up sometime.

Pepin had a hard winter kill few years back (2 or 3), I don't think there's much in that lake now.

you would be surprized what this lake has, may not have been a total kill but worth a check.

So the lake didn't freeze out this past winter? Some area lakes did but haven't heard anything about Pepin freezing out. I drove by there a lot this summer and it didn't stink like some lakes after a winterkill.

I haven't seen anybody out there either this winter.

MNice,

I used to go on 28 and pass 144 every day until the construction began. Looks like it will be a long time before anyone can travel on that highway.

jig-em, I think it is due to be done by fall of 05. From what I hear it will be a 10 ton road with 8' paved shoulders.

I am one of the inspectors on that job. It should be open sometime this week. It will be open for the winter, then closed in the spring again. There will be a 3 mile section that will be gravel though, so drive safely.

rip some lip, could you post some details of the project please. I heard 10 ton concrete road with 8' asphalt shoulders, any truth to the rumor.

Thank you

It will be a 10 ton road with asphalt mainline and 8' paved shoulders. Also will have turn lanes and bypass lanes. It was bid with conrete and asphalt options, but the concrete was about a million dollars more. I heard this morning that it will open up on friday the 17th. It will be completely done around november of next year. MnNice, if you see me in a rice co truck(green extended cab dodge), stop and say hi.
