Ely Area Ice Conditions

Does any one have any reports on ice conditions in the Ely area?

Casey, I'm afraid I don't have any good news. Ice is questionable at best. The small lakes have a few. The bigger lakes have ice in the smaller bays but I won't trust it til we get a week at or below 10F. We've had too much wind, rain, wet snow, and mild temps. Sure guys are fishing a bit but not this guy. Supposed to drop on Sunday. We'll see. Hey, your a Babbittite! Didn't notice that at first. Saw those pike they pulled out of Kramers at Blombergs. Biggin's for sure. Still, I stay off for week or so. I work in Babbitt all the time BTW. Hi from your neighbor in Ely.

A couple of my roommates an I where on a smaller lake today and it had 7.5 to 8" of ice on it. We where also out there last sunday and there was 5.5 to 6 so its still putting on ice even though its been kinda warm. I don't know if i would trust the bigger lakes yet.
