Heater problem.

SmellyJelly

Question

I went to test out my Paulin heater (just like the Mr Heater cooker)today and it doesn't work. I hooked it up to a propane tank as well as a 1 lb cylinder. I went to lite it...and nothing. I don't smell any propane what so ever from the heater...just when I unscrewed it from the propane tank and 1 lb cylinder.

Any suggestions/tips.

Peace,

SmellyJelly

I have the same heater. Are you pushing the button as you light it? If you push the button you should hear the hissing sound and it should light.

I have to keep that button pushed for a little bit after I light it or it goes out.

Same heater here. Not alot to go wrong in there. Maybe you have some gunk in the ignite button valve. You should hear/smell gas if you have pressure in that 1#. See if anyone you know has the 20# adapter and hook it up to that. Might blow the gunk out. Don't blow yourself up goofing with it though!

92python-

Yes, I did push the button in all the way in while trying to lite the heater. I do not hear a hissing noise while I push the button in.

Thanks python.

Anybody else.

Peace,

The orifice is plugged. You'll see a dime size hole in the tube between the sunflower and the valve assembly. Inside the tube in that location is the orifice. Use a wire to clean it out.

I agree with ST's thoughts. Often times bugs will crawl in there or spiders will make a web in them too. That is a very small hole in the orfice and plugs easy.

Thank you for your help. I took the heater apart... I used a .004 wire (pin gage) and unplugged the tiny hole. The heater is happy as well as the owner!
