First Time on the Ice?

What are you going to fish for first when we are able to get out on the ice for the first time this year? I think I'm going to hit a small lake for some pike action with tip ups. In the past it's been real good for pike for the first trip or two of the year. Can't wait to get out, looks like it may be another week or more.

I'm shooting for LOW on 12/16, but will pass the time on pool 4 until then.

It might be a while before I can hit my favorite metro lake.

First time out was December 2nd. Within the city limits of St Paul. Targeting crappies. Got one little one.

I'll be out on some small St. Paul lakes for walleyes & pike or whatever wants to bite, hopefully by next weekend. I have a buddy who just returned from Kosovo who needs to be taught how to ice fish all over again since he missed all of the last hard water season.

I want to fish for some Tonka eyes once we get some ice. Or IF we get some ice. We were ice fishing this time last year! Oh well, I'm taking the boat out still.
